Good find

I always found it odd that Cincinnati, one of the most conservative cities on the planet, was the team that started the alcohol sales and Sunday baseball (and had Jerry Springer as a Mayor)

Nice article, but the St. Louis entries of the National Association in 1875 caused a similar stir by scheduling Sunday games. At the time, most chalked it up to those heathens in the Wild West.

I just love hearing St Louis referred to as the West

Related to this Chris Von Der Ahe (St Louis owner) is probably one of the more fascinating Baseball figures of the 19th Century, might have to add that book to my collection.

Very funny. Never thought of that before. (And first to put in stadium lights for night games.)

The only reason Jerry still isn't Mayor is because he made the mistake of writing the personal check to the hooker (that would been OK except he did it across the river in Ky). We woulda forgiven him if he had kept it at home.

That's just the public, not-Cincinnati perception, Vegas ain't got nuttin on Cincy, what happens here (such as "gay" baseball stars as one example).
