I need a roster - NOW

Without touching on the AP thing - and acknowledging all the work being done on the Rolen roster - I have a problem.

I'm leaving on a 10 day int'l business trip today at 3:00 ...and I need a roster; any old real life roster; can be '05 or '06; don't care, but I've got an awful lot of plane time in the next 10 days.

I've been waiting for a month (not a complaint) and tried a fictional league once and just couldn't get into it.

I've read some of the posts about downloading old rosters into 2007, but they are full of changing .csv to .dis to .dat and so on. I can't do dis.

So, does anyone know of an existing recent roster that can be easily downloaded into 2007?

Thanks!

Download CubbyFans '07 beta at http://files.filefront.com/CF2007Bet.../fileinfo.html . It's a lot better than nothing and if you'll careful set up your game it'll only crash when you start messing around with duplicate players. And they only show up when you do a player search.

I'm using it now, deleted the lowest minors and Fall leagues. A majority of the FA's are on the correct teams (Zito isn't), but that's something you could rectify yourself if it's important to you.

Regardless, his mlb ratings are much more accurate than anything you'll get with a Lahman import.

Good luck.

Perfect; thanks!

Will it have correct team/league names etc. Or do I have to download one of the templates for this (or change manually)?

It's all ready to go, with logo's for the minor league teams as well. Just D/L it and put it into a .lg folder within the saved games file and you'll be good to go.

Or, if "any old roster" will do, just use the Lahman database.

One more very important thing I almost forgot. Be sure to go into the setup options and set the player ratings scale to you preferences. I found a few that had been set to "none" and this was causing problems. Also, be sure to go and "reset" your league totals in the league tools/edit league structure area.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I would suggest Gambo's 1.75 pure db.

I've converted Rolen's Jan2,2006 rosters (d/l from OOTP Mod Squad), using the conversion feature in the program, and the conversion was seamless. I tried the same thing with Rolen's Opening Day 2006 rosters and had all sorts of problems. Rolen's 1/2/06 rosters will give you complete rosters and minor leagues and is a great way to enjoy the game while the 2007 roster work continues.

I'm pretty sure that I unzipped it outside of the game and then moved the .lg folder into the saved games folder. See if that works.

Thx, but...

The problem I have is that, unlike previous versions of the game, the ootp2007 folder doesn't show the svd games sub-folder in Windows Explorer... so there's no way to move the CF file into it. Is this a glitch in my machine, a mistake
I'm making, or something else?

Have you made certain to hit the "restore defaults" button under Game Setup/Strategy tab?

This is an absolute must.

It's in your My Documents folder, a Vista requirement. Look around and you'll find ways to move it wherever you want, but for now, it's in your My Docs. Once you find it, simply put it there and you should be good.

Hope this helps.

p.s. don't forget to do the "restore defaults" thing I mention above.

Success!

Haven't run it yet, but at least it's there. Now off to JFK. If you hear a large growl from 50.000 ft, you'll know it crashed...

Thx to all, especially T-Bone.

I still can't find the restore defaults thing, or the restore totals thing. I might jam a fork in my eye.

It's gotten so bad I had to register to share it with someone

Took me a few times to find it too.

Go to Game Setup under the Game menu
Click on the League Setup tab (the step I kept missing)
On the right side of the screen, click on the Strategy tab
Scroll all the way down under the League Totals section, and there's a "Restore Defaults" button.

Once I did that, I was able to play with that Roster Set.
