I think its funny how they were talking about Brady Quinn being a "big" quarterback size wise. Isn't he only like 2 inches taller than Smith?

I'd say 2 inches is quite a lot. Two inches is the difference from me being 6 foot.

I don't consider it to be too much. I mean saying a guy who is 6'2 is huge and then saying a guy who is 6'0 is too short. Isn't that a little drastic?

I would say It's all about the release point, Bernie Kosar was 6'5'' and had more batted down passes than most.

I agree. Smith throws from his toes so its not like he is releasing the ball too low. I think Smith will eventually be a starter in the NFL.

People are terrified of Smith's height. Here's the problem, at 6'0 teams will blitz him to keep him in the pocket and Smith will have a hard time being able to stand in and make a throw. He had this problem in college too because with all that chaos going on you need to be able stand in there and deliver the ball accurately.

If you're 6'5 like Peyton Manning, it's not a big deal because you can see over everything, Smith doesn't have that luxury and he doesn't have Vick's ability to scramble out of situations like that.

I think Troy has a lot of things going for him though and hopefully he will work hard and learn from McNair in Baltimore.

I was glad the Ravens took him. That is the perfect situation for him.

Which means Troy Smith probably have a lot of other flaws comparing to Brees, since Brees was drafted 32rd.

Maybe not so much Smith's flaws as much as Brees was one of the most accurate passers I've ever seen put on a college uniform.

I get the idea from the past few drafts that NFL GM's are fed up with players who don't participate in the combine.

Agreed.

That goes on Smith too because he had to know he needed the combine regardless of whether it's overrated or not. Perception is reality and the perception is that strong combine workouts can really boom someones draft stock.

The NFL seems to be a place where all logic goes out the window

Players can move up and down on the draft board during weeks that they do nothing at all.
Bench pressing 15 more pounds or running 6 hundreds of a second faster on your 40 means the difference between round 1 and round 2

I am glad baseball is slowly moving out of the dark ages and starting to find meaningful ways to evaluate players other than a bunch of bull**** that gets air time on ESPN but in reality means jack ****

The popularity of the NFL draft also boggles my mind but that is a different subject for a different day
