New To 2007 and Having a Blast

I haven't played much OOTP since I think it was v2 or v3, yup a long time ago. I finally decided that I'd been missing it too long, and had been playing Championship Manager for far too long, even if it was interspersed by TDCB and NHL Eastside (the first version), that a couple of days ago i forked out and bought 2007.

I know there's been a lot of complaints around the forums, but for someone who hasn't played the game in a long time, all I can say is wow. The game has come a long way.

For someone that wasn't used to where things were, I haven't had much trouble finding my way around (those forward and back arrows are my friend) and really got into the swing of things.

I've done a 97 year sim from 1901 just to see what would happen, which was a blast checking in on it every so often (I left it running and not managing) and now I'm into the second season of my first proper game.

Using gambos database I started a season in 1997 and took the Rays. Not sure if it was beginners luck, which is probably was, but after a losing first season and big trades to get rid of all the high cost players on the roster, picking up draft picks all over the shop, and cheap free agents, I've taken the team to the World Series in the 2nd year.

Really looking forward to season 3 now as I have to make decisions on who to keep and who to lose to FA.

Rambling on me

Just wanted to offer a different viewpoint to all the bad vibes flying around

I don't think there are many bad vibes right now at all, with the one exception of RealRoster Gate. Most people are thrilled with the game, from what we can tell...

Anyway, welcome aboard!

I am glad I stumbled upon this game. I love micromanagement of sports teams. And what better sport to micromanage than baseball. Now if they can make an Out Of The Park Water Polo I am there. They can use the same acronym and call it Out Of The Pool Water Polo.

So who's the Richard Nixon equivalent in RealRosterGate?

Some guys posting at FOFC forum are not happy. I hope you can address their problems that they are seeing in ootp 2007.

If those guys at FOFC are not happy, why don't they come here to get their problems addressed?

If I had problems with FOF, I wouldn't post my grievences here and expect to be heard.

lynchjm24 has been very vocal. I think he has same nick here too..

He found issues with the AI has he dig deeper into OOTP 2007

Do a search on this thread for his nick of what he has to say. It can be very helpful.

I think he raises some good points. Unfortunately his "tone" can be a bit off-putting at times.

I find that to be the case with a number of posters over at FOF. It is a "different" type of crowd, I guess. He does make some good points, however. I think it is kind of encouraging that this is what's being called a major bug. It's a far cry from last year.

Except that when people post that they are not seeing the problems he raises they are branded as Fanboys.

I don't see super fast development.
I don't see draft picks released.
I get infielders in the draft. Three SS and at least one each of 2B 1B and 3B in my last draft.
Playing time does impact my prospects development. I traded an AAA 1B who was out of options and not going to make my team. He won rookie of the year in the NL the next season.
I find trading difficult because I get offered very little by the AI. Maybe I'm too dumb to make all these easy trades (see point above).

I'm not suggesting that he's wrong but is it possible that there is something in the way he sets up his leagues.

BTW it is your fictional league I'm using. Very well done!

Glad you like it. It's my favorite setup (6.5 style).
