League history

Ok, I am new to OOTPB. I have played EHM and WSM, I think these games are great, and I am really enjoying this game, but I have a question that I cannot seem to find an answer for. Is there a way to have a game start in say 2007 but have historical data from 1900 on. I mean a fictional league with no real players but have a history behind it, so when I start the game there is a Hall of Fame and stats to try and reach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work on a great game.

Yes. You can do this with fictional players. Just start the league when you create it from 1900 and let it sim until 2007 and you won't have to intervene at all.

The best way to learn this game is really just to dive in, push a bunch of buttons and kinda go with it. Because really, the manual is awesome. But if you have no frame of reference in which to use it, it'll be really hard to get any idea of what to do next.

But it's a deep game and if you've played WSM and EHM, this will be easier if you know baseball at all.

how long do you think it would take to sim? Also can I do this with all of the leagues in the game?

If I do the simming without adding a historical league, will checking the progressing options affect how the game sims. I.E. will the salaries go up and the power ratings go up as the leagues progresses.
