The Frozen Rope
While playing out my games, I often see the 'frozen rope'. If you are like me that's not a baseball phrase you run across much:
Frozen Rope Learn something new everyday. |

I wouldn't call it rare, I can't remember how many times I've heard the phrase. I've watched a lot of baseball, for many years, though.

I think it's pretty common. I've heard it quite a few times.

I'm still looking for a "seeing eye single" but I don't think that's in this game.

Nice to know I can always change it to:
="a hard line drive hit by [%game batter] out to [%game flyball location]...(nl)sinking fast... and [%game fielder of] won't have a play.(nl)That'll be a single." |

Though, I guess what makes OOTP great and sets it aside from other games is your ability to change that if you so choose. But boy would pbp in real life (and to me, in the game) be boring if every line drive was described as "a hard line drive". |

I was refering to the ablility to customize not my dislike for the phrase. Tysok just reminded me that you can search for all the phrases it does use.

Not to start a war here, but how on earth can Vinny be considered behind Harry Caray, may he RIP? Scully is the best there ever was. He doesn't do road trips outside the Pacific Time Zone anymore, and Dodger fans miss him.

Note, I did say possibly. I listened to a lot of Harry Caray over the years (because of WGN) and even more Skip Caray for Braves games. I didn't get a chance to listen to Scully a lot, which may skew my personal view.

IMO Denny Matthews, the Royals announcer, is better than Scully or Caray.

Alright, well I'm going to bring this back OT, and yet keep the OT alive...
Which phrase that your favorite announcer coined, would you like to put into OOTP. My vote is for "Go Crazy Folks! Go Crazy!" for game winning home-runs. |

"Goodbye, Mister Rawlings!" for a home run, and "It's a Piazza delivery", which will have to be retired in another couple of years.

One of my favorite Skip Caray lines is whenever a fan catches a foul ball, he'll say where the fan is from: "There's a foul along the third base side, into the seats. Nice catch by a fan from Lexington, South Carolina."

I wouldn't be opposed to a "Slam-a-lama... Ding Dong!"

Well now that we've gone there i wanna give a shout out to Ernie Harwell (Detroit Tigers) radio as my top pick. Not to slight the others and their preferences, but "Oh baby that's a homerun"
