What criteria do you use to determine award winners?

What stats or combination of stats do you use for the following?

Hitter of the Year

Pitcher of the Year

Rookie of the Year

Fielder of the Year

I use VORP for the top two, a combo of VORP and other stats for the rookie award, and range factor for the fielder award, but I was wondering what everybody else uses, and why. Thanks.

Hitters: I use RC/27 outs.

Pitchers: ERA and then W/L Record. Rudimentary I know, heh.

Rookies: See Hitters & Pitchers, with favoring Pitchers slightly more.

Fielders: Fielding % and then Range.

I would use Win Shares, but balance it a little with other stats, just cuz.

I use VORP for Hitter, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Year, and VORP for the All-Star Game. I let the AI choose the Fielders. I also added one award of my own, "Worst Player of the Year," which is negative VORP.

Example ... of what, I don't know. I mean, this guy won Worst of the Year, but the real question is, why did the A.I. give him 30 starts: 5-21, 8.29. 139 IP, 119 BB, 39 K.

Ah, the ol' horses arse award.... great idea.

The AI probably pitched the guy because he was the 5 th best on the squad, even if he was the worst in the league......

Haven't thought about this yet may take some ideas of this thread, haven't got the game on this laptop but isn't there an award that you can make up and what do you se that for or does everyone just use it as a MVP award.
