Wall Height
I just got this and I'm blown away so far by the depth and custumizability. This is a dream game, one you play exactly how you want to. So anyway, hating home runs as I do (don't get me started), one of my favorite moments in baseball is the jumping steal of a homer at the wall. So I lowered all the walls in my stadium to help them get up there. My question is, is the game really that smart?

Wall height is only there for cosmetic reasons. You may decrease the HR's per park by lowering park HR's <1.000 to your liking.

Wall height and fence distances are cosmetic, just for the play-by-play text. The actual outcomes of each play are determined by the park effects.
So if you make a park with a 2.000 home run rating you'll have a ton of homers even if you set the fences to 500 ft. away and 500 ft. tall. But with 500 ft. tall walls you'll rarely have a home run saving catch. ![]() If you think about it, this is the way it has to be. Otherwise you'd have great difficulty inferring correct park effects from dimensions because of the impact of altitude, humidity, prevailing winds, humdors, etc.

It seems the manual says that the distance and height of the wall can affect HR's, Im confused after reading the responses to Ecks question. This came from the manual....
"The Distances & Wall Heights section describes how far it is from home plate to each part of the wall, and how high the wall is in those locations. These figures also impact the outcomes of plays in this park, such as judging whether or not a long ball will be a home run." |
