Notre Dame Spring Game

Leaving here in 10 minutes (4am) to head to South Bend for the blue/gold game.

My first time to the spring game.

9am brunch with the team, autograph sessions (kid and wife will enjoy that, I'm not an autograph collector) then the spring game at 1:35

Have to leave early because they shut down the I65 bridge at 8pm tonight for Thunder over Louisville and if I don't get across then I have to drive 30 miles out of the way to come home!

Just curious, not living in the US--what are the point of the spring games? is this just "the last look at the football team before the school year ends?"

Just find it interesting these games draw so much attendance for an intra-squad game.

I've never understood it either. OSU drew something like 73,000 while charging 5 bucks a pop yesterday. They're so boring.

This was the first one I went to and it was a blast. Breakfast with the team, autograph session, alumni game, then the spring game. Good time. Not something I'd do every year but it was a chance to get a first look at Jimmy Clausen.

75,301 and I agree they are boring. They drew like 67k last year and I can't even imagine how many it would have been if the weather wasn't so god awful.

I stayed at my apartment and watched some of it. I didn't really feel like going and paying especially with only 1 scholarship RB dressing for the game and other players sitting out.

Most likely 5th year Jr. Todd Boeckman.

He grey-shirted, then red-shirted and has been 3rd behind Smith and Zwick the last 2 years.

A full dose of Tressel-ball will be given this year. The good news is, there's like 4 scholarship seniors on the roster and 2 of those probably won't even see the field in any aspect outside of special teams.

Yep. I think Boeckman has the lowest ceiling of the 3, but he's the least likely to cost them games as well.

Indeed. Besides, the last thing I want is for Henton to start because that would cost us a shot at Terrell Pryor, the #1 ranked QB in the upcoming senior class.

Anyways, sorry to hi-jack. Is Clausen the leading candidate for the QB job, I know some ND fans that prefer Demitrius Jones.

Jones looked absolutely lost on offense yesterday. He did have a nice run late in the game. Extremely athletic but looked lost on offense. The pick he threw he hit Bruton right in the numbers.

Clausen and Sharpley played the best yesterday. Clausen looked like he knew the offense better than Jones or Frazier who have both been there a year.

The switch to 3-4 will help. Our secondary is solid but D-line is weak. LB are just fair. O-line looks solid and we have an exceptional RB core. WR might be the weakest position which is why I see Jones landing there.

8-4 and win a non BCS bowl would be a great year with how young the team is.
