Ah! How Do I Do This!!! (A guide to setting up MLB universe)

Don't get too excited by the title of this thread...I don't have the answers but I have plenty of questions! I figure others would be looking for similar information so let's try and compile info to make starting a 2007 MLB baseball experience as easy as possible.

OOTP 2007 has made things easier this year it appears but it begins to feel messy when you start to try and sift through all of the mods. With rosters on the way this week, I am attempting to get everything else in place for a simple import of the rosters.

I found three setups that looked appealing to me:
ICY's MLB world template
MLB 2007 2.0 quickstart (everything but real players)
World of baseball 2.0

I am having problems with the first two as I've decided one of these 2 are the way I'd like to go. I cannot figure out where to put the files in order to have the ICY template turn up during the 'load template' stage of creation. I've been using OOTP for years and have always been pretty good with manuevering my way around the game and its files. However, this isn't working out!

For the MLB quickstart, I can create the league but once it is "finished" the cupboard is completely empty. There are no teams, nothing. What's wrong here?!!?

Assuming I will eventually get one of these 2 setups working, what else do I need to get to ensure I will have:

Accurate history/statistics/almanac through 2006 season
Stadium pics with statistics for weather, dimensions, hit types etc.
player photos (auto-gen or whatever?)
Logos for all MLB and minor leagues and teams

If I ONLY use the American setup, MLB and minors, will I still have foreign players enter the league? I don't need to see what's going on in these leagues and never plan on managing outside of the US teams.

Are we still considered the MANAGERS of our teams? Can we simply be the GM (I know we can adjust settings to sort of act as the GM).

MLB rosters will be the last step and I'm hoping that they are an easy import! Thanks for all of the advice that I'm sure is to come and hopefully some others can use this to get started!

Unless I'm missing them I did not see them present when I extracted them. I will go and doublecheck. This was something I looked for originally but could not find. Perhaps I missed it.

You would be amazed at the number of people that read the readme file. While I like to jump into things to, at least when I can't figure t out I do go to the redme before posting frantically here asking how to do something. Hopefully they will see this post first...

Both files I am trying to use, after checking a 2nd time, do not have readme files. There was a description file in one of them listing the changes etc.

I think my problem appears to be that upon extraction, I changed the name of the folders and it created some problems.

It'd be great to have the collective wisdom on the pluses and minuses of different options, e.g., "if you use this template, this is a big plus, but then you need to worry about that, whereas this quickstart avoids this problem but it doesn't solve that one," and "if you import this set of stadium pics you get this advantage but then you lose out on that benefit from that one," and so on.

I suspect every quickstart/template has its advantages and disadvantages. If anyone wishes to share their evaluations, it might be helpful.

I suspect once real rosters come out there will be a bunch of folks who will scramble to download quickstarts and templates.

I'll threadjack my own thread for a minute...

If I choose not to save gamelogs and box scores can I still view them for the current day? I have no real use for them once I check the boxscore once.

Thanks!

No readme in my download.

Put Icy's here:

C:\Documents and Settings\********\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\

Put all of the folders in that directory. As a sidenote, I simmed thru the allstar break using fictitionals with he template and can't restart the game now. I get the error:

FATAL APPLICATION ERROR
LEAGUE_STANDINGS_PAGE::create page-invalid league ID

Is this template related, and can it be fixed?
