Historical Players In Regions

Short of a complete manual draft, is there a way to get historical players to import into regional leagues. I am using a mod that sets the US in 3 regions (North, South, and West) which is what I want, but I am wondering if I can somehow "keep" reallife players playing in areas where they originated from... Any ideas??

You could do it in a fictional league, with a little workaround. But if you're importing historical players, I don't see how you would do it.
