Historical Universe Alterations

I am setting up a historical league in which I would like the players to be rated on the stats that they produced each year there are stats for them. I know there is a check box for that in step 4 of the Historical League Creation Wizard.

However, I would like to see if history can be changed for some of the players that had career ending injuries - I would like them to not be predetermined. I understand that some players that historically did not have career ending injuries may be hobbled by injuries or have their otherwise lengthy careers cut short if I want enable history to be changed.

If I know a player did not have stats after a certain year, due to retirement or injury, can I alter history while retaining historical accuracy as much as possible otherwise.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but there is a setting in league setup that allows you to set a percentage to how much the AI looks at stats in the current and previous year and at ratings. You may have to experiment with this to get the results that you personally like.

Player recalc is such a great feature that I really would suggest using it. The default setting is three-year recalc (out of 1, 3, or 5 year options) and that kind of smooths things out nicely. One-year recalc would probably jump around more than you would want.

With recalc, if a player has no stats for a particular season, perhaps due to a real-life injury, the game's normal player development takes over to give you realistic alternate universe results for a player of that previous skill and age. However, if a player had poor, partial season stats due to a real injury, recalc will adjust him down -- not so severely if 3-year or 5-year recalc is on.

I think this addresses what you mean:

The game is already set up so that if a player had a career ending injury in real life, he can continue on in the game. Career ending injuries are not predetermined.
