Gauging Interest: Custom Era_Stats.txt & Finances.txt for Fictional Leagues
So my idealized method of play is to start a fictional league, let it run for 30-50 years or so to build up history, and then take the reigns of one of the worst teams in the league and build them into a dynasty. Unfortunately, even though the financial model is now by far the best it's ever been ... it doesn't exactly hold up to my exacting standards of stability when simming for extended periods.
![]() So... I went in and simmed a couple leagues from 1901 to 2015 to see if there were any systematic problems, ran a few regressions, and adjusted financials.txt accordingly. I also did the same with era_settings to account for any unintended interactions between stat reclac and historical PCMs. I have stuff that -- to me at least -- represents an improvement over default, but I wound up sacrificing precision for flexibility. That is, what I have works for my league setup, but due to the nature of the changes I'm pretty sure it'll break in most others. That said, I wanted to gauge interest to see how many people would actually play with a setup like this before I release the files and potentially confuse the casual or new user with yet more mods... The general league characteristics are as follows: Important Financial Settings: 1. Fictional League of ~ 20 teams. 2. Starts in 1901 3. Auto import financials enabled 4. The first 20 years of the sim are done for history, not really for playing -- so the fact that teams having piles of cash isn't a turn off. Important Development Settings: 1 & 2 from above plus.. 5. three levels of minors 6. Auto adjusting PCMs 7. Generated draft pools (not sure if this matters, but I don't have time to test it) 8. Rookie draft during offseason Does anybody play with a setup that's (kinda) like that? Last edited by Seviien; 03-27-2007 at 08:15 PM. |

I do. But I keep running into problems by the time that I get to the 1930s. Something is off on the HR modifiers and it's TT'd for a later patch.

I pretty much do that, with some alteration (e.g., I start with fewer teams but expand over time). For my fictional leagues, I generally make my own financial and erastats files that don't necessarily line up with reality. Actually, the financial recalculation this year is great because I used to do that by hand.
