I'm sold an Old OOTP player is back, my boring story
I remember years ago searching the net one day after work and coming upon a game called Out of the park baseball. I had played baseball sims for years (SOM,Tony LaRussa Baseball, DMB) and something was lacking in each of them, a career mode where I felt I could have an influence on my team. A true influence. As I read the site for OOTP 3 I was astounded at it's depth. Managing my players, signing them, financials, farm system. Once I had the game on my hard drive I was in heaven (Not Hugh Hephner style but close) I went about managing my favorite team the Yankees with real players eventually being replaced by fictional ones. I manage every game so it took me awhile to finish my seasons, but it felt like baseball. I would get attached to players and sign them to extensions, even if they were on their last legs at times out of loyalty LOL. I was impressed that a guy from Germany created the best baseball game I had ever played. It was shocking to learn Markus was only 24 at the time. At 24 I was just finishing school and figuring out what the hell to do with my life, let alone write a complex baseball sim.
I continued to purchase every version until last year. Due to some lackluster reviews I decided to stay away. The new interface looked quite complex and not the OOTP I had grown used to. I'm pleased to say this year that this version while quite complex is the best version of the game to date. It's quite obvious Markus listened to the fans concerns with making the interface more user friendly.
Thanks for taking the time to read my drawn out return to OOTP.
