College League:any Thoughts

I tried a one conference college league sim through about 20 years but
i could'nt get the stats in order
28 man roster
No Minors (JV)
48 game schedule
BA leaders always .450+
Homeruns most ever 10 ..avg leader per year had about 4 or 5
ERA leaders in the 1.00's or lower
Wins 8-10 (reasonable) 4 man rotation
RBI various 30+ to 78 all time single seasion high..and the guy had 3 homeruns

It seems the AI retired players at 4 years...but occasionally a player would get a fifth year...which altered the stats

The draft (recruiting for me) always had players 18-21 ...the 21 yr old might be a stud but he is retired after 1 year

Also despite the high batting averages the position players in the draft where
mostly 1 star potential...while the pitchers went from 1 to 5 star
Thus the AI draft always drafted the pitchers fiirst until later rounds
Draft set for 7 rounds

Overall I think this could work...but I just could'nt make the settings work in the strategy screen

Any thoughts

How did you set up your college league? Was it as a "ML" with 19-22 as age limits?

I can't imagine the game could handle a feeder league that didn't have anything to feed into well. College leagues aren't meant to be "played", they just don't have the options one would expect. They are just what the name says they are ... feeders. A source of draftable players whose stats have been generated in real games rather than some random mathimatical formula.

Isn't there a choice in game setup to select the min and max age of player creation. Set this to 18 min and 18 max. This should prevent 21 year olds from joining the league. You could also see these players as JuCo transfers?

As for stats, you may want to increase the development curve. If you set them to 2.0 then your 18 year old would start poorly and then by the time they are 22 they will be playing like they are 26 year olds in the Majors.
