Nomar's Hitting

Hey guys, I was just watching game a couple games of the 99 Redsox and noticed something completely different with Nomar. He was actually willing to go to the opposite field, it seems today that he's trying to pull everything and the only time he goes the otherway is when he gets fooled. One of the games he hit a homerun over the sox bullpen, I haven't seen him hit a opposite field homerun all year, maybe the wrist has effected his power a little, but I feel the main reason his average is down is that he won't go to right anymore. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have noticed this too. I think it has a lot to do with his wrist. It may be that he is having trouble going to the right side since the injury. I don't think this is something that has gradually been happening since 99.

Wow. I didn't make that connection. I think you are dead on. At this point, is it safe to say that he will never fully recover from the wrist injury?

I think he'll recover next year. this was major surgery so I think it'll take 1 year to really adjust and for him to know his limitations. However, I feel that he could become the player he once was if he went to right more, but it seems like he tries to pull everything. I think Spot has the right idea, this hasn't been happening gradually after last years surgery, I don't know what it was but it's almost lieke he refuses to go to right.

If anything it is the wrist. In stretches he has gone the other way this year, but really he has been trying to pull and go up the middle. I don't think it is the wrist 100% though, mostly a mechanical and mind thing. Pulled something would be harder on the wrists since you'd need to whip them around quickly and with power, whereas to go the other way you can just fling your bat out there at times.
