Single Game managing?

I really don't see anything on this too much. I realize OOTP is a career sim first and foremost but I was wondering what folks have found to be the case in managing games. Is there a single pitch mode that just gives the result of the AB ala a tabletop game? I realize ratings are used instead of stats as well so I was wondering how realistic people felt the single game mode was. A worthy AI manager?

I read that there is a single pitch mode that results in an AB.
There's the option to sim up to a certain inning, so if you just want to play the last three innings of a game, that also works.

I play out all my games and find the AI is a worthy manager.
The only downside is the in-game commentary is a bit lacking. It doesn't mention any interesting streaks such as "Bob Fox comes in on a tear, batting .540 in his last 10 games"
