Marc/Markus: I would like to give the game as a gift. Is it possible?

I have looked everywhere on the Forums, but can't find out if you can send V2007 as a gift.

Is this possible?

Sorry to post here.

I tried to get the answer.

You could purchase the game, then send the license key and a link to download the game to your recipient.....

I never thought of that.

I think I will just send them a money order.

Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Much appreciated.

I don't see how they could do this. Since you are the one paying for it all you do is forward them the license their name will not be on it. If they loose their key they just need to contact you to get it back for them. Not to mention, why are you buying someone a game if you can't even trust them enough to not try to get your credit card information...?

It is a gamer that I met on the Forum here. He loves the game, is a good member of the OOTPB Community, and can't afford to buy it. He is going to college overseas and is not financially well off.

No disrespect meant, but I find it prudent to protect financial information, no matter who I am dealing with.

I would recommend doing this, and then deleting the license key from your emails so that you don't have access to it (so you don't accidently use it, or in case he wants to install it on two separate computers). If you send him a money order he may just spend it on women and alcohol.

I don't see E-license handing out credit card information to someone just because they have the license key. Heck I doubt they hand out anything more then the key, from my recollection...

Marc,

There needs to be a way you can buy the game for someone, and have the emial with the license and setup info go directly to them.

I'm sure Eugene isn't alone in wanting to give the game as a gift to someone, and it would be a great way to spread the word about the game while making it convenient for people to give the game to others.

Will

This is not a problem

It's very possible. A nice, grandfatherly fellow gave me 2007 as a gift (and asked to remain anonymous). He did this through Marc, who apparently was more helpful to him than he was just above.

Two caveats: The recipient will receive your phone number and the last four digits of your credit card number. Mine was done through eSellerate (for Macs), so your mileage may vary.

Nice thought, Eugene.

It's also nice to see you here on these boards. I was wondering about you, whether you were taking the same "wait until the dust settles before diving in" approach for 2007 that you followed last year.

Buying the PC version the only information on the receipt is my name and address. No other information is on it.
