Followup on CBA

Now that I don't have the Preview to play with (LOL) I wanted to point out that when we do get the final game, I will be reporting on my new Continental Baseball Association right from the get-go, including a walk through of all screens in setting the CBA up. I'm hoping this will, in addition to being a Dynasty Report, help the newer players through all the screens and options of the game.

The short time I had the preview, it was difficult to go do something else (much to my wife's dismay) and I see that as a good sign. I really think I'm going to love this game - and for the first time, won't miss 6.5.

Any ideas on the type of league you'll run? Fictional, real, combination?

Reason I ask is I used to run a High Heat (2K1) online league that was called Continental Baseball Association. It was real for the most part. What I did was contract 6 teams to leave 24. All the players from the 6 teams were put into a draft pool and the remaining teams picked based on the real MLB previous season standings, worst to first.

The league ran for 8 seasons before I had to give it up due to military call-out. Someone took it over and ran it for a few more seasons and then it just faded, much like HH did.

A 16 team fictional league starting in 1901 and basically following the same historical timeline as the MLB (wars, strikes, expansion) with a few twists to make it different. I wanted to have both the players AND cities fictional so as to not make any subconcious decisions based on real life. With the entire "world" in a fictional setting, I can play with history a bit without feeling like "that wouldn't have happened".

Once I get to 2006, I'll take over a team and play out a reasonable lifetime in baseball, retiring at a "normal" age.

Hey Al,

Are you going to create a fictional nations and cities.txt?

Going to take the easy way out and just rename the teams to what I want. Using names of cities that mean something to my past.
