2 questions

1. Is there a way so fictional players have pictures?

2. If I have my stud pitcher pitch every 3rd day, besides the lack of IP per game, any other effects such as increased injury? Thanks.

Every time he goes out he runs the risk of being injured and the likelihood increases if they are tired. I don't think you can actually "throw his arm out" though but indirectly through injuries you could....

I never return a starter to the mound on less than 3 days rest.

ok thanks for the information. I have a pitcher who in his 2nd year in the bigs is at a 10 ERA, he had 3 of my 4 wins in the playoffs last year with an ERA of around 1.20 in the 4 games. I want to use him as much as possible in the upcoming season but don't want to ruin his career, thanks again.

It also depends on what era you are playing in which I assume would be modern. In a deadball era it was common to have a three man pitching staff and starters would often pitch the whole game.

Similar to what happened in real life though many of these pitchers will have very short careers due to injuries and such. This is part of the reason staffs have grown to 4 and then 5 starters but note also that their is a school of thought that 5 starters is unnecessary and actually hurts the team due to the often low quality of the 5th starter. Some experts claim a pitcher can go on 3 days rest with little long term effects but whether this plays true in the game is another matter.

I have often thought of switching to a 4 man rotation and I would be curious how things work out if you go this route. Please let us know what happens if you do (over multiple seasons)!

I'm thinking about it. My top 5 starters are all at least a 5 in ERA but only this one is better then 8, and hes a 10. He's just so good that even his starts replacing a 6 or 7 is worth 5 to 6 wins and considering I made the playoffs by 3 thats a lot. I have some holes and may trade my 5th starter to fill them, thanks for the idea. I'll keep you posted any noticable effects.

I pitched the guy on 3 days rest for the month of April, he was 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA. He had 1 start of 3 innings(gave up 1 run) but other then that he was great. He did however suffer a tricep injury pitching out for 3-4 weeks. When he recovers I'll pitch him on 3 days rest some more and let you know how it goes.
