addition of expansion teams...

this will be my first year of using OOTP and i just had a few questions regarding the addition of expansion teams to a fictional league. this league has 4 levels of minor leagues, AAA, AA, A and Rookie.

when i wish to expand at my major league level, do i have to add the minor league affiliates a year or two prior? or will all 5 levels be added at once? i'm not switching any team affiliations, so each league will get a new team from this expansion.

i assume that the new teams will be filled up via the expansion draft, amateur draft, and free agents/trades the season before the new teams join the league, but i wasn't sure exactly how it worked. i didn't know if i had to build up the minor league teams (for a season or two) before the franchise begins major league play.

I believe the answer is that the teams are all added whenever you add them, so all levels will begin play as soon as you make them. The way it's set up, you would add all levels at the same time. However, I think it's potentially possible for you to add the lower leagues first and keep them unaffiliated. I don't know how well that would work, though.
