League Creation in 2007. Easier/Quicker?

Has the league(s) creation been made easier this version as opposed to 2006 where it literally took me any where from 1.5 to 2.5 hrs to create?

If so, what has been done to make it quicker/easier? Any details would be nice.

I would like to apologize if this question has already been answered. I will continue to do searches regarding this topic but it appears that either I missed it OR this question has yet to come up. - hence, which is why I started a topic on this.

Here's another related question: the thing that kept me from actually buying 2006 was that you couldn't save the universe creation process midway. You had to complete the whole thing and save it, else you would lose it all. When trying to put together a rather large game world, this got daunting.

In 2007, is it possible to do some sort of temporary save during universe creation? Or, is this a case where the new feature of being able to add leagues makes my original problem a moot point? I suspect that it does, but just in case...

Can you please explain to me what exactly wizards is? I mean, where will this help me if I wanted to create a very specific league (Partial MLB - Partial Fictional)? Sorry for asking but I am not really all that knowledgable about wizards.

Thanks.

The league creation wizard walks you through all of the basic questions you need to answer when creating a league. There is one for fictional, one for historical, etc. Once you get past that (and the wizards are very easy and comprehensive), you can tweak the settings before you actually start the league.

It won't necessarily walk you through something as specific as a partial MLB/partial fictional league, but that's what the smart people on the forum are for!

To answer another question above, since you can totally add/delete/associate/unassocitate teams and leagues with ease, it's almost impossible to screw up a league setup to the point where you cannot easily fix it. (Nothing's perfect, of course, but it's close.)

The honest answer here is that they won't help a lot. And honestly, what do you expect? If you want to create a very sophisticated, complex, detailed league, you're going to have to take some time to tell the game what you want. A lot of features have been added to OOTP2007, but telepathy isn't among them.

The legitimate knock against OOTP2006 was that league creation was cumbersome even for people that wanted simple, straightforward leagues. The addition of the wizards addresses that by essentially hiding the "Advanced Mode" of league creation (what everyone had to use in 2006) behind a series of well-explained setup walkthrough screens that cover the truly essential stuff.

But if you choose to create a very advanced league, then asking the game to simplify that for you is obviously rather counterproductive.

Thanks for replying but this doesn't answer my question(s) about importing a template from 2006 into 2007. Is it best to wait to take advantage of the features/additions in the league creation stage or will I still be able to take advantage of those features/additions even if I do import it?
Thanks.

Um... you didn't ask a question about templates. At least, not in this thread.

It is better to wait. I believe templates from 2006 will work, but due to the changes to the game and the additional league setup options, they may/will not do so perfectly. As such, the recommendation is to create templates fresh with the new version.

So by all means plan out your league and how you want to play before you get the game, but it would be safest to wait until you actually have the game before trying to enter it into OOTP.

I saw your other thread, but I'll reply here in brief.

It's just my personal opinion, but I always tend to think a league/world created "natively" in the new version will have an advantage over one created in a previous version of the game.

I don't have any hard statistical evidence to back that up, but that's just how I feel about it.

I'll back you up on that... with the same feelings and lack of evidence.

Actually, later versions of 2006 had the ability to save universes as you were creating them.
