The first of many questions regarding expansion

Does an entry automatically get added in a player's history if he is selected in an expansion draft?

I ran a test of this just for you and the answer is:

Yes

Ah, yes, gone are the days of running my own expansion drafts, importing rosters to reflect them, and manually updating the player histories to reflect the drafts. It was time consuming enough that I usually didn't bother, but now it will be easy.

Second that!

I'm going to have more time to play through my seasons, and less time to worry about Expansion....Ahhhh!

Yes, I too shall gaze upon that long overdue sunset with the same level of misplaced nostalgia that farm girls once felt when the age of manually churning butter passed.

Hoorah for progress...and for processed cheese!!

do we have to generate a new schedule after every expansion? or does it do it automatically

I am pretty sure it makes a new schedule, or uses the historical schedule if found.

The idea is to start the thing in 1901, and run it 106 years with zero human interaction, and have things turn out perfectly.

Thank goodness.. I have a 2006 league where I have been thinking of expanding and now I can just wait.

You are correct. When I tested expansion for the answer in this thread it immediately generated a new schedule. Since the league was not a size that there is a schedule for in the schedules folder it had to generate one on the file instead of using one of the canned schedules already available.

This expansion thing just keeps sounding better and better everytime I read more about it.

Is it March 23 yet?

Here’s a rather sticky scenario that I can easily imagine being played out in one of my leagues:

Let’s say you add one expansion team to sub-league A, but not sub-league B, giving you an uneven number of teams for both leagues combined. You have Interleague play activated and you’re using an unbalanced schedule. Will OOTP 2007 still be able to automatically generate a schedule for your league?

I'd imagine that the same limitations regarding uneven number of teams (that is, the schedule generator can't do it) still exist.

Thanks ctorg. I was afraid of that. I wonder if an old version of StickWare would work with 2007. I have what must be an ancient version of the application (4.1) that I downloaded but never used waaaay back in 2002 for use with OOTP4.
<O</O
On second thought, I just opened it and it seems hard-coded to a 2 sub-league, 3 division format. Oh well...<O</O

I think that in the 'expansion' screenshot it shows that in order to use the expansion tool we need to add an even number of teams.

Yeah, I saw that too. Maybe my first question should have been: "Can you add an uneven number of teams in any given expansion draft?"

Yeah, Stickware was great for a limited range of possible setups. You could actually do 1- or 2- division leagues as well. The schedules it makes have some flaws, but they are many times better than what OOTP generates. Your best bet is to look for something appropriate in the mods forum.
