Aging in OOTP07

Allow me to repeat a question from the 06 forums:

"I'm trying to create a universe where players have very long careers -- say 30 or 40 years, or even longer. The idea is that they would play in the majors until they couldn't anymore, then drop down to "senior" or recreational leagues. (Kind of a "cradle to grave" concept: players start as little leaguers, move up to amateur ball, then pro ball, etc.)

So I set Aging Speed all the way down to .01, hoping to see some extra-long careers. Well, after simming 100 years there are a few guys who played 25+ years, but most players still quit by 40 or so. Is there any way to serious ****** or even turn off retirement, so that players don't quit, they just move down to lesser leagues?"

Apparently, a player's loss of ability/retirement in their late 30s/early 40s or so is more or less hardcoded into OOTP06. What about 07?

That was because I messed up the first post, reposted it again, then edited the original post. Or something like that...

At this point I'm not sure we can give a good answer yet because RonCO and CO are still tweaking the normal curves to get them just right (and they are pretty darn close mind you). Once they've nailed these down, then we can start throwing less normal things at the engine.

I'll echo what jarmenia said. But I will add that this issue has been raised and discussed in the beta forum.

That's what is strange about the OOTP community...

I just read a thread about sound is not an important feature for the game and then I read a thread about a league idea where guys play until they are 60 and it gets taken seriously.

I understand that sound is hard to implement because of sound cards etc, but I really liked it when it was in the game for the one version.

Also, if a guy wants to have a 60 year old baseball player that's cool too. But its just funny how the board works sometimes.

One factor to remember is that the sound issue has been brought up many, many times, each time getting a clear explanation of why it isn't happening. Issues like those in this thread are, well, untapped discussions. Senior citizen baseball league? The board likes interesting creative ideas, which a "dead horse" like Sound no longer is. my two cents.
