Australian Open 2007
Roddick and Safin start in 30 minutes..should be a great match. But the big question is if anyone can beat Federer? And Mauresmo? And live sports in the middle of the night rocks!!

Hi SDPM
Federer looked like he was about to lose his cool this evening. Who do you think can knock off Mauresmo? I think its 50/50 Roddick gets upset against Safin.

I may be crazy but Mauresmo is hot.....
Its been raining all day in Melbourne.... The surface of Laver arena is bizarre. I remember last year there were several sprained ankles and this evening Serena Williams took a tumble. Baghdatis is already out..he was is so much fun to watch.

2 sets to 1 Roddick..Safin seems to be cracking in the heat, humidity and pressure.

Serena looks like a man. Mauresmo actually has a bit of femininity. And Serena also has the wacky father.

If that was the only pic I would agree with you. But I prefer to judge by moving pics.

Just imagine how good Nalbandian would be if he didn't wait till being triple match point down in the third set almost every match to start playing ...

I felt really bad for him in the last Aussie Open when he completely folded to Baghdadis. He just doesnt seem to have the killer instinct.

As to the original question: Sharapova & Clijsters both have what it takes to beat Mauresmo, and I think which ever one faces her in the finals will. Kuznetzova has a chance to do it earlier, but a pretty small one. My money's on Kim Clijsters.
As for Federer, it looks to me like whoever wins the Blake/Nadal match that seems imminent has the best chance of beating him. Both are mentally much tougher than Roddick(not that it's a high bar). But it's an awfully damn small chance. He'd have to have an off day to lose to anybody. More interesting to me is the young guys ... aside from Nadal, Djokovic, Gasquet, Murray are all looking very strong so far, and by the end of the year Sam Querrey could start to make his prescence felt as well if he keeps improving. In a couple years things could be very interesting, assuming age has started to catch up to Roger by that point as expected. |
