Smile Custom League Question

I'm sure you vets out there have answered this question before, but after several hours of scanning through the posts, I cannot find an answer to this.

I intend to convert my current league that I have been running for years with a different program, to OOTP 2006. I need to create a custom league that has four divisions with four teams each. We will be using MLB players for the league (not fictional players.) I have already downloaded the Lahman database.

I thought I would use the "Add Historical League" import option, which gives me the MLB players. But after the import, it says the League Structure cannot be edited because it's a standard or historical league. So.....

Question One: How do I create my league so that it only has the Major League players from the 2006 season and have my custom league structure?

Question Two: Once that's done, how do I add players directly to each teams rosters?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANX!

Do this first, Download Rolen's roster from www.ootpmodsquad.com, unzip that folder into the saved game folder under c:/programfiles/sports interactive/ootp 2006/saved games.

I'm not really sure what's next, but I'll try out some stuff and get back to you.

You should be able to edit the league structure now, and if you want, also do release and schedule inaugural draft. I hope this helps.

Well, I've downloaded the database and extracted it to the Saved Games folder, but then what? I can't do a Historical Major League import since a Master.CSV doesn't exist. Then I tried the Import OOTP 6.5 League but then I received the "import failed" error stating it can only import leagues on Opening Day.

Am I missing a step?

You can't "import" Rolen's roster set. You just open it up from the main screen. It should already be a 2006-compatible roster.

Okay, we're getting closer. I went to Load Game this time, and pointed it to the MLB2007 file. However, now I got an error message stating the loading of the database failed because it's either corrupt or a save-game from an old version.

I doubt it's corrupt. Could this have something to do with the update to 1.0.3 that was released?

UPDATE - I've now tried the CubbyFan game file. This loaded just fine. However, although it allows me to delete the teams and divisions, it will not let me delete or rename the Leagues (i.e. American and National cannot be modified.) Am I forced to modify my own league to conform to this limitatioin?

I believe you have to, but I would still try Rolen's, I'm not sure what you did wrong. No offense to Cubby who makes great rosters, but I've found Rolen's to be a little more accurate.
