Database editing
I decided to give 06 another shot after windows asked me if I wanted to remove unused items from the desktop so I have a few questions.
C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\database Lets say I want to edit First Names...... 1.) What are the two numbers next to each name 2.) If I successfully edit all the names as I want to in notepad, how do I save them so they are the default for only 1 league and not everything> 3.) Since I see "first names", "nicknames" and "names" does "names" corrospond with last names? Thanks. |

1) First number is frequency, second identifies the set it belongs to.
Set IDs can be referenced here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=120862 2) You can't. If you alter the names data, it will alter it for all leagues, but only for universes that are created after you have edited. Pre-existing leagues will not use the new data at all. This maybe (hopefully) will be changed in OOTP2007. 3) correct, "names.txt" is for surnames. More info on all these topics in customization guide located here:http://www.ootpbaseball2006.com/down...=download&id=4 |

Thanks on #1's and 3. So......would creating saving a copy of the original file on my desktop, then editing how I like it, starting a new league, then replacing the edited file with the copied file, work? |

Dogzilla means, on #2, that you have to finish editing your file, save it in your database folder over the orginal version (which you should save elsewhere), then start a new league. The game creates the names.dat file in the new league folder by looking at the names.txt file at that time only. From then on, you are accessing the names in the names.dat file, which you cannot edit, when new players are created.
