Why does this STILL happen?!?!!

This is an old OOTP3 problem I had hoped was fixed, but it reared its ugly head in the playoffs of my online league and I have an angry GM to answer to. Why in the world does the computer start whoever it wants to in the playoffs? In OOTP3 in the playoffs it would always start the #1 starter whenever it wanted to, even if that is who is not supposed to start. This problem is HIGHLY annoying! Tonight in Game 2 of the NLDS between the Astros and Rockies Hideo Nomo started for the Rockies for the 2nd consecutive game, even though John Thomson was the listed starter on the schedule. Nomo had thrown over 100 pitches the day before and was thrown on the mound by the computer because he is the listed #1 starter. Can someone please tell me why the computer does this even in the first place?!?

I think that this was solved in one of the earlier patches. Are you running 4.1?

"Typically" a team will start it's assumed best starter as much as possible. Reduce the size of the rotation to 3 or 4 and it should not happen as frequently if at all.

The rotation size was 4. How in the world is a guy who through 100+ pitches the day before the best available starter? Why is the CPU even making these decisions? Isn't the GM's job to decide who they want to start?

Was this a human or computer controlled team? You say he just had a 100 pitch game the day before?

It was a human controlled team...I am the GM of this team in Ehrie's league

I have the rotation set to 4 for the playoffs. And Nomo started the first game and threw 101 pitches.

he then started the second game and threw 37 pitches before he was tired...go figure.

Thompson was supposed to start this game for me not nomo.

If it turns up anymore in the BBL playoffs I'll post it in this thread again.

Another thing I'm wondering, what determines whether a day to day injured guy starts or not? I plug a starter who is 85% in to start and he never does. Why?

Markus may have changed something with the logic of using dtd SP. Used to be if one was slated to start the game would freeze.

I mean for position players as well. If they are Day2Day they will not start, nor appear in the game at all. I mean I had to go a whole week without Chipper Jones, even though he was just 85% and I wanted to play him because I was in a pennant race, but even though he was in the lineup he didn't start nor play in any of the games.

In Baseball Maelstrom, in order to make sure the proper pitchers are starting, I actually enter each game as though I'm going to watch it, make sure the proper pitcher is listed as starting, and then sim to the end of the game. This way, if the computer sticks someone on the mound who shouldn't be there, I can fix it before the game is played.

I have not noticed this happening, I will try and take a look at it today and see if I can reproduce it.

Did you have your "next starter" set to #1 or #2?

My guess is the latter

Cheers
