Is there a single Arizona Cardinals fan on this board?

What is it like? Chewing glass?

I'd imagine that it's kind of like being a fan of the Golden State Warriors.

I can't believe Denny Green fired the O-Coordinator after the debacle yesterday. Their offensive playcalling was the least of their problems.

The Cardinals were the first NFL team I followed and was a fan of. They still have a place in my heart, although I've more or less moved away from rabid devotion to any one football team (and when I did claim a favorite team the Packers were that team for a longer period of time in my life)

I suspect being a Cardinals fan is something you sort of just get used to. Like having an ugly girlfriend that you are too devoted to to leave. You pray that someday you'll wake up and she'll be beautiful...but apparently nobody is listening.

I recycle Neil Lomax every once in a while. I'll give #17 a turn again...and will have to dredge up my old Brian Sipe avatar in honor of those fellow sufferers in Cleveland.

My best friend for almost 30 years now and I used to play these twin brothers in street football all the time. My buddy and I grew up Cowboys fans. Anyway, we would beat these two EVERY time we played them, and they always came back for more. Seriously, we must have beaten them more than 100 times and never lost.

But despite being Cowboys fans, we were always "Lomax to Green." I concede, I have no idea why.

Yea, I actually thought they had a great game plan offensively at the start. The offensive line sucks, making it impossible to run the ball and the Bears had adjusted to the short passing game and started knocking balls down. What is the offensive coordinator supposed to do at that point?

I would honestly like them better if they got a color scheme and nickname that actually matched their city. Their whole persona is a hand-me-down from a baseball team in St. Louis. It just seems like they aren't trying to be likeable.

It was a heck of a combo, Lomax to Green, when Neil wasn't being planted in Busch's astroturf. As far as not knowing why you and your friend would "be" such a combo, I remember playing a ton of pickup games where a friend and I would play a mean game of pitch-&-catch. At various times (that I remember) we were "Kramer to Carter", "Kosar to Slaughter" and "O'Brien to Toon"

I think we thought it was cool to be sort of obscure in a world where every other kid and his brother wanted to be "Montana to Rice". That. Or we were weird.

Except they were the Cardinals of Chicago well before they ever set foot in St. Louis. They are one of the NFL's grand old teams (only with a stellar tradition of being pathetic)

Whenever I wanted a "challenge" in Madden, I'd take over the Cardinals franchise and try to turn them around. Besides my beloved Dolphins, I think I actually have a soft spot for the Cards and I really like Fitzgerald as a player.

I went to the same High School as Jim Hart.

16 years or so after he did.

I went to the same college as Jim Hart. He was on his way out as the AD when I started there. Not quite as "close" as going to the same high school, but until recent seasons he was the best NFL player that SIU produced.

AD=Assistant Dean?

The trophy case at Niles West is filled with pics of him and a couple of his trophies, from what I recall. Damn good QB. I've always liked him.

They're actually the oldest continually operating franchise in the NFL. They can actually trace their roots back to the 1890s, and have been owned by the Bidwill family since 1932.

Incidentally, "Carindals" is not necessarily a reference to the bird - it is actually a reference to the color of their jerseys from waaaay back when.
