Problems with current league setup while attempting to play with historical rosters.
I've got a league that I'm trying to use the historical players through one of the databases, but that has the current league (all-minors included) setup. Each season the draft should include players who debuted that particular year (i.e. 1891), and I know that there is no way for those players alone to fill in the rosters without some outside assistance.
I've tried to setup a draft at the beginning of the season for the historical players and a subsequent draft later for the fictional/filler players (I can also just fill teams with fictional players as well). Here's my problem: Almost every year I experience a situation where many of the teams (primarily the minors) have no pitchers, etc. on their active roster -- but the organization may have more than enough players to fill these spots. I can't go any further unless I fill those affected leagues (which sometimes involves most of them). I'm sure that there are ample players in the current universe to support filling these teams, but they apparently can't/won't do this. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any way around it? Any other suggestions on how to get this to work? Thanks so much! Last edited by American_Ernesider; 10-14-2006 at 01:39 PM. Reason: Grammar -- one additional statemetn |

Maybe I should rephrase a bit:
What is the best way to set up the following type of league (fictional players along with historical players are fine): Historical Players based on debut year (starting in the pre-1900s) Current League (all-Minors, etc.) format I just don't know how to prevent the error messages listed in my original post. Thanks again for any help! |
