Sissy pole!!

Since I do love OOTP4 I dont wanna sound like I just slid down the sissy pole but, some things that need to be added to ootp5 or and update to ootp4.

1)First off I have given up on the minor lg stats being kept, its seems really in poor judgement for the game not to be able to do this.BTW I dont wanna here how much space it takes up on Hard drives....cop out. nuff said

2)Sim option to July31st and also a non stop sim option. Can we also skip the Yes button for online league play? Seems like a option could be added to not have to click Yes to every single game.

3)lastly I want the ability to edit a players salary even after I have signed them to an extension.

Does Markus read any of these post Steve?

PS:The last update did nothing for me....is it just me? Instead of scraps throw us a bone, I would have rather waited longer for a more intense update or just add it to ootp5.

I'm sure that he reads "some" not all, but that is the way it should be. I funnel lots of info to him, along with the testers and unless there are issues that are difficult for us to undertand or convey to him his time is better spent in programming, etc.

Sorry the update "did nothing for you", I think you are probably in the minority but understandable as you won't find a game or company anywhere that can please or satisfy everyone with everything they do.

I know that these are issues that have been brought up many times and would be nice additions. I'm also sure that if it was as simple as "we think" it might be to add these things that they would have been added long ago.

I'm certain that the depth and quality of the game will continue to grow as we continue to work on it and adding new features and fine-tuning existing ones.

Your mileage may vary.

You can disable online league while you're simming the games and you won't have to click it every time.

Yes, I too got something from the update. I look forward to more of the continuing improvements to the game and hope the cracker gets what he wants too.

I don't understand how anyone can say that the last update "did nothing." The new reports alone make the game a whole lot better.

FWIW, I think that the most important feature that needs to be added to OOTP5 (I realize that it would be too much to add as a patch for version 4) is some form of the 40 man roster and the accompanying transactions (waivers, limited options, etc).

I agree with point #1. A simple checkbox, <i>keep minor league stats</i>, located in the league setup, would suffice. That way, those of us with gigs of space to dedicate to ootp can turn it on and the rest can league it off. Off by default. Same for post-season stats, a simple checkbox.

I think it is well known by now that most of the community would love to see an option to keep minor league and post season stats but I wanted to once again add my support to this idea.

Hopefully in OOTP5 Markus will find a way to include this.

I think the patch added several useful features. The trading AI was a bigger negative for me than the other features added, so I reverted back to an old update. I may or may not be in the minority on this and realize not everything is going to go my way so I can accept it. If everyone else is happy with the trading AI, I can learn to live with it.

I agree with the original post that minor league stats should be kept. Something I have been hoping for since v2. Not a show stopper but would be a nice feature to have.

I also would like to support the idea of incorporating the 40 man roster and some form of the rule V draft.

One more thing if it would be possible for v5 is to add exhibition games in addition to the spring training model. It would be nice to have my rookies trying to earn a position.

Keep up the good work and please fix the trading AI (even if it is only to please me).

All the best,
Jerry

I agree w/ you the exibition games are a must to see where your players stand as far as becoming a regular..

The patch was "ok" and I think if you expected more than a patch realistically your hoping for a prayer thats not gonna happen anytime soon.

Just sit back and watch Markus improve his game a little at a time and the key is patience. Don't expect much and the less you expect the more your impressed...

Which new reports?

Select a team's drop down menu and near the bottom you'll see:

"Roster Report"
"Ratings Report"
"Batting Report"
"Pitching Report"
"Fielding Report"
----
"Player Development"
"Minors Report"
"Top 10 Prospects"

All of those were new with 4.1.

Guys, if you want to keep minor league stats, use one of the third party HTML utilities.

They were there before, just harder to get to. In fact, if I remember correctly, all of them except for the prospects report were there back in OOTP3 (don't know about before that). I've really enjoyed the new ability to get to the player development page and change to another team without having to go through the troubles we used to have to. Great feature.

Things that I would like to see in OOTP5, statistically speaking, and roughly in the order that I personally find them important:

-Defensive reworking (Defensive Spectrum, Range/Glove/Arm for all positions, more defensive statistics)

-Slight pitching tweak causing the ability to prevent hits to be applied to balls in play rather than all plate appearances - this would cause velocity to become an important rating instead of vanity since a high K rating would create fewer opportunities for hits, and would definitely create more realistic pitching performances overall (as opposed to the current system which allows pitchers who have 10K/9 to have 10H/9 as well, which works out to like a .750 AVG on BIP). Instead of having the game logic decide between "1b/2b/3b/hr/k/bb/bip" on every PA, like it appears to now, I think it would be closer to reality if it decided between "k/bb/bip" then had a second level where it decided what happened to balls in play (groundball chance/flyball chance/single/double/triple/homerun/etc).

- Career Hitting/Pitching/Fielding Statistics for all tracked statistics on an individual, team, and league scale, viewable on a season-to-season basis and also sortable/filterable on a league-wide scale (a robust statistical report center would be A++++ in my book)

-Team and league totals for all tracked statistics

-Individual Statistics properly split between teams if a player is traded midseason

-Slightly more detailed tracking of hitting/pitching stats (outs for hitters, groundball/flyball for pitchers)

-The new runs created formula

-More simple metrics (HOF Standards, Adjusted Range Factor, Balls in Play etc)

When I say "all tracked statistics" I'm including situational statistics. Ideally there would be a statistical report center (possibly even as a separate .exe, if necessary) which would allow for filterable views and CSV/XML exporting. If I want to see all of the night-game single season fielding statistics for july for every 28 year old third baseman who has played in the national league between the years 1915 and 1972 and hit left-handed, what I need should be a few drop down boxes away.

No sissy here

Someone mentioned you can disable the online feature when simming, will this still keep boxscores and stats saved for uploads? This is why I always kept in on and hit yes for every game.....if so it would have been nice to put this in the manual.
Also I am not throwing smack at Markus or OOtp4, its the best game out there....it just seems none of the top 5 wants were filled with the update? Last but not least I would pay double for this game if you could set each player in your lineup for attempting steals. Ok I am gong back to my cave.

All those reports were in the game already before the patch. In fact, all of them, except the prospects reports, were in OOTP2, and I would say they were in OOTP1 (except the ratings report, which I think came with some version 2's patch). Only the top 100 prospect report is purely OOTP4's.

As Iatric says, the update located them better. Maybe that's why you didn't see them before.

Yes, the boxscores, etc are saved IF you have elected to save them via the "schedule screen options".
