problems setting up online league

I'm new to online leagues, i actually have STB2K3, but anywho. I'm trying to start a league, I have a website at www.freewebs.com I'm trying to use. Basically my issue is in trying to export anything to the website directly from the game. I tried entering in the ftp server address and it will only accept www.whatever.com. You can't have any backslashes or anything? My site is www.freewebs.com/ballfour/ but when i enter that it says the name cannot be resolved. If i just put in www.freewebs.com that works but it says password not accepted. I was able to generate the report onto my computer and upload using the site tools but not everything works. I managed to get the main standings page up which has stats and all that stuff but you can't click on anything. I don't know how make the links work. I just uploaded the league.htm file and theres obviously more to it than that. Which is easier for someone that knows absolutely nothing about webdesign? Exporting from the game to the site?...or from the game to my computer and using the site tools? I guess i kinda need to know what to put in everything on the online league page....i thought i was headed in the right direction but if anyone has an example they could put up here that'd be cool. my apologies for being a pain. I'm new and ignorant...if anyone could kinda point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it. Is this specific enough?

Your host doesn't support FTP, therefore you cannot use it. (The OOTP exporter.)

I am not aware of any free sites that do, but I also have not really checked. I would imagine that it wouldn't take too much time to find out.

www.netfirms.com

Great hosting, you'll like them (except for the ads). They'll put one on the top of your pages unless you kill it off

Online league help please

Hi guys, please excuse my newbieness but im an absolute rookie webmaster. Ive been in simulation leagues for quite some time now and bought ootp4 to start my own online league with some friends. I have now been trying to get a league page up for 3 days straight to no avail and on the verge of giving up. I gave up trying the ftp method after countless failed attempts. I obviously found it easy to export the league to a folder and managed to upload a compressed version of the folder to 1 of 5 sites im currently trying on. Problem is, i still dont have a clue what im doing. Words could not express my gratitude towards anyone willing to supply some kind of step by step guide for a particular website, please keep in mind im a rookie (how could you forget huh)

there are plenty of free sites that support ftp. freewebspace.net has a list, but they seem to deal more with the cliche services. and i've always found problems with those services, such as long delays in connecting and receiving promised features (envy.nu's ftp feature comes to mind.)
if you don't need user-friendly features and support, but want cgi-bin and other features available through ftp, i'd say check out prohosting.com's free service.
otherwise, there's also tons more of very reliable $10/month services that offer a lot more (mySQL, Perl, PHP, anonymous ftp)

are you sure that you uploaded it? and to the folder that youre linking to?
you may also want to check with your host for acceptable files. i doubt that theyd block *.htm, but if they might have gone overboard and banned everything but *.html, jpg, and gif.

Can you use an FTP program and make sure that they are uploaded?

not positive, we did at one time use the ftp uplaod it seemed to upload without any errors but then we generated the report right after that and then tried to publish that with our website stuff AND then went and checked the links. and that is where we are at right now.
