How do you lower League Fielding Ratings

Is there a Global setting to adjust League Fielding Percentage?

The only place in the game where this seems to be possible is the Player Creation Modifier for Fielding Ratings.

I know I could adjust every player individually, but would prefer a quicker method.

I have run a 50-year test league...fictional...no minor leagues...League Fielding Percentage never changed...remained at .986 all 50 years.

After 27 years I changed the Player Creation Modifier for Fielding Ratings from 1.000 and made it .990, which should have lowered fielding averages and created more errors.

Still no change...League Fielding was still .986.

After 45 years, I change the PCA Fielding Ratings to .950.

Still no change...League Fielding was still .986.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Shouldn't the game create players with poorer fielding ratings and as time goes by and as they begin playing in the league, lower the fielding quality?

HELP MARKUS!

You are probably the only one who knows the answer.

edit the engine file in the config folder

There are two lines it in:

GAME_FIELDING_ERROR_FREQUENCY

GAME_THROWING_ERROR_FREQUENCY

increase these above 100 to increase the error frequency

To easily get your league's fielding percentage to be what you want use this formula:

Error Frequency = [(1 - Desired Fielding Pecentage) / (1 - Actual Fielding Percentage)] X 100

Set this number in your config file for both Fielding Error Frequency and Throwing Error Frequency. (If your config file has already been changed, then change the "100" in the above formula to what is set your config file. If Throwing Error Frequency and Fielding Error Frequency are not identical in your current config file, then I recommend setting them both to "100" and running a test season to determine "Actual Fielding Percentage".)

Now is there a way to do this for each individual league or is it only possible to change the setting for the entire game? I have a 1969 league and a 1901 league and of course the fielding % were a lot different.

All changes to the config file effect the entire universe. You can't target certain leagues within that universe. If the two leagues are in different universes, just swap out the config file when playing each one (though, I'm pretty sure you have to reboot the game to get a different config file to load).

Makes sense. I hadn't though of that. Thanks.

I ran 3 test years.

With Fielding Error Frequency set at 100 and Fielding Error Throwing set at 100.

With default settings I got .986 FA.

Changed both of them to 150 and it dropped .976 FA.

Changed both of them to 200 and it dropped to .953 FA.

I will try lowering them to 250 and see what happens.

It works.

In a different test league I got these results:

Set Fielding and Throwing Error in Config at 250:
.986 FA dropped to .966 FA.

Set them at 200:
.986 FA fell to .971 FA

Set them at 150:
.986 fell to .979 FA.

Set them at 125:
.986 dropped to .982 FA.

I set both my leagues up, switching config folder, as mentioned above, for whichever league I am playing, and I have noticed an increase in errors.
