Where to start anew?

Okay i am trying to figure out where to restart my uni. I have looked at starting in the 60s again but i am toying with having the boxers debut at random years. I thought of going with the 50s but after looking over the heavyweights i didnt real like the pool there. I have also thought over taking fighters from all different eras and mixing them. Ah well just more of a rant than anything, such difficult decisions.

I really enjoy having a historical base with random factors (kindda the best of both worlds). I started in 1890 with earlier fighters rounded up to 1890, then put a 50 percent randomizer on my spreadsheet, so there is a 50% chance a fighter will start when he is supposed to, and a 50% chance he'll start somewhere else in time. Then I put a filter on the spreadsheet and hide all years except the current one so I don't know when a fighter will start until January of that year. Might not be your cup of tea, but for me that's the most fun aspect of my uni - you don't know who will roll up until he's there.

I had a PC die (ps,mb,hd), and am in the same place. I dont know what to do, when, with what fighters. I have been reading others uni's and looking over a lot of UTBA stuff, but otherwise I have nothing of my own going on.

The simplest, I guess, would be to just use all available fighters in one universe. Or you could divide everyone into specific eras, get a champion from each era and then have an all-time tournament. Or start at some particular point in boxing history and progress in time more or less the way it happened in real life.

I divided my fighters into eras, but sprinkled a few fictional guys into the mix, then moved forward in time from about 1890 or so, adding a few guys from other periods. Fer instance, I had George Chuvalo meet John L. Sullivan!

I say just start a universe anyway you want. It needs to be something you'll enjoy doing or you will soon get tired and be starting one over again. That's the beauty of this game. Your game, your imagination. Anything you want you can do. I like both the historical ones(like mh2365's) and the random ones(like bigMatt's)historical base with random factors. Start anywhere, just make it fun for you. I know I go to work looking forward to getting home and running my MBF universe.

Okay i think i have figured it out. I am going to use the random number generator to generate numbers between 1920 and 1990 (the fighters debut year) to fill my uni initially. I will then take the number of fighters for that year and generate another random number to choose the specific fighter. I think i will start with somewhere around 50 fighters or so fill my initial roster. I am still working on how i will decide when new fighters appear. I am actually kinda psyched about this and wish i didnt have the all day block party to run. Ah well these things happen when you have 4 kids. My stay out of town next week will allow me to have my nights completely open which will b very weird. Havent been away from the kids for more than one or two nights before. Gosh hope the alarm clock works at the hotel.

Sounds like you have a good plan for your uni! I hope it works well for you.

So what do you need an alarm clock for? With your league to create you won't have any time to sleep! The world awaits!

Ask the front desk for a wake up call.
