Football on OOTP

I've created my own fictional universe using the NFL, NCAA (only 5 conferences due to size), NFL Europe (the minor league system for the NFL), Canadian football league, and the Arena football league. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in this once I work out all the kinks.

The schedules are good and teams play the real number of games their league plays (NFL - 16, NCAA - 12, NFL E - 10, CFL - 20, AFL - 16). This allows for you to play out an entire season in about a day. The game is designed so that each team has 15 players, usually carring three pitchers. Endurance is set to Very High so that your SP is like your QB and is responsible for the majority of the game.

The NFL is set as a ML, right now Canada is an INT league, NFLE is the AAA league for the NFL, the AFL is an independent AAA league (may drop this to AA), and the NCAA is an independent Rookie league.

If I'm going to release this when its finished and fully working properly, I'd like to see some logos in it. I am TERRIBLE with logos so if I could get some help here I'd greatly appreciate it. The NFL E doesn't use the real NFL Europe teams since there needed to be 32 teams to keep it similar to the NFL - so the NFL E is the NFL England. so those logos don't need made, but the rest do. Sounds cool! Just an FYI, the CFL only plays 18 games not 20.

Well sortof, they just have a weird schedule especially when they have an odd number of teams.

It's not like the NFL where most teams play the same day.

They just spread the season out over 20 weeks.

wow, this is so weird, i just created nearly the same thing a few days ago: NFL is the majors, NCAA is the minors and the CFL as an independent international league. great minds think alike, lol

i planned on playing a full season though, i just liked the structure...

I originally thought about doing each "game" as a 3 game series, so that the "NFL" would play a 48 game schedule. In fact, my first attempt at this was like that. I found that many more ties happened with that setup and going to 16 games eliminated that. And once I found out that you could do 1 pitcher if you set releivers to "almost never" and stamina to "very high", it seemed to make more sense to do a 16 game schedule - at least for what I want to accomplish.

One thing I'm tinkering with is seeing how effective it is to ONLY have the NCAA with a draft, having 4 year contracts, but having all contracts set to $1 so the likelihood that they sign with the other leagues after 4 years is VERY high. I've not had a chance to test this long term yet, I plan on doing that tonight, but that is the goal.

how about setting the development/aging mods so that the players mature and age out very quickly? i imagine you'd have to set them high for it to happen that quick; i havent really tinkered with them like that.

I would love to see an NFL SI game sim. They have managed to make a soccer sim, baseball sim, boxing, ice hockey sim etc. I guess they can start working on Basketball as well.

YES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE AN NFL SI GAME SIMULATOR.

Once you get to the playoffs they will start immediately after a regular season with games once a week.

Baseball with a football schedule was great fun in 6.5 though, and you are right in the pitchers being like quarterbacks. All I can say is you better have a good backup QB.

ok, I've modified this a bit so that each "game" is a three game series - so the "NFL" plays 48 games (16x3). I'm testing it out now, and seeing how it will do long term, but it seems pretty solid. This also sets up the playoffs as a best of 3 instead of one and done.

The NBL (NFL) has all the NFL teams and logos in the game - along with a AAA team in the NFL England.

The CBL (CFL) is an international league and has all 8 teams, playing 60 games (20x3). I'll have to fix this but there's just not a good way to schedule 18 games for 8 teams.

The ABL (Arena) has two additional teams to make 20 and has 48 games (16x3)

Finally, the NCAA has the 5 major conferences (ACC, Big10, Big 12, SEC, Pac10) all split into two six team divisions. The Big 10 has Notre Dame added and the Pac 10 has Army and Navy added. With 10 conferences, there are 6 wild card teams making for a nice end of season playoff.

All the leagues except the NFLE have logos and team colors set, so the league looks very good. I'll try to get out a beta copy tonight if someone could host it. PM me if you can host

Four series each against 2 teams, and two series each against the other 5 teams, perhaps? Not ideal, but with the schedule rotating over the years, the slightly unbalanced nature of that schedule wouldn't be too bad.
