Editing player histories in Catobase

(I realized after posting this in the main forum that it probably belonged here. So sorry about the duplicate threads.)

I'd like to go into our Catobase file and edit some player text histories, just to include things that got omitted by accident in a couple of places.

I can get into the PHistory file, and find the player. I add a line and fix the numbering accordingly (so, for example, if it should be the 5th thing in the history, I renumber all the current stuff from 5-> to 6-> and give the new entry #5), and also fix the appropriate year in the last column.

But it doesn't show up in order when I create the Cato pages - it either goes to the top of the history or to the bottom.

Has anyone ever had any luck doing this? If so, what am I doing wrong?

I may be a bit confused here as I haven't had Cato up in awhile, but when you go into the player history file and change the text (in the order you're wanting it to appear) that should do what you want it to do to that file. In the next Cato run, you want it to regenerate all the html pages, in order to make those changes stick. Make sure the box for Include All Years - or to that effect - is checked. Then run the program. I can't see why you'd have a problem after that. Good luck with this.

I thought about that, but the stuff I'm looking to add is already in the player history files and has been for a few seasons. For whatever reason, ithose changes are not reading into Catobase. I'm not positive on this, but I get the feeling that Cato only adds to the end of each history file every year, instead of overwriting the whole thing. I've done some old editing in the past of player history files (e.g., removing info from previous players who had the same pXXXX.txt number as new guys), but it never makes it in. I just assumed Cato identified the last line in the history and added everything after that.

I may try deleting all history entries for these players and recreating the whole thing from scratch. That might be the easiest way to do it (there's not more than 100 players who need changes, so it's not as bad as that sounds).
