Just bought the game
Just bought the game and I'm wondering if anyone could give me a quick run through of how the ratings work. I'm creating my first boxer (myself) and I'm not quite sure what to make of these ratings. There's one set that's 1-4 and I'm assuing that 4=best. Then there's another set that counts backwards from 0 to 10. Chin vs Knockdown. Then there's a group that goes from 5 to 1. None of this seems to be uniform at all. Pretty confusing for a new guy. Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings, and welcome. On you PC if you go to the file for Title Bout you'll see a pdf file for the game manual. In the manual, see appendix A beginning on page 42. It should help you to understand the basics of fighter creation. Hope this helps. Bear |

That is the link to an article breaking down the ratings, it's the same thing as the PDF Bear mentioned. Also, for all the ratings the bar goes from left to right with the far most left being the lowest and the far most right being the highest setting. Welcome to the board, hope you enjoy the game and the time you spend here. We've got a solid group of guys around here in the basement.

Thanks guys. What was messing me up was when I created a guy, all of the 1-4 stats were set at 1 initially. Which made sense. But the other stats that went from 10-0 etc..., they all started with a full bar and at 0. Which made me think they counted down backwards for some reason. So, if a guy is 0 on recovery that is better than if he's a 10? Just making sure.

Yes. The lower the recovery number, the better. There was a post some where by Jim Trunzo, the game's creator where he mentioned that any recovery number higher than 4 is overkill. There are a few guys in the game with recovery numbers at 5 but not too many. Bear |

Sorry about all of the questions. I'm looking to make my own boxing universe with all created boxers and to make it a little quicker I decided to start guys off on preset numbers. Then as they win or lose, give them experience points to get better. I just wanted you to look over my presets and tell me if they're balanced. I don't want one preset being totally dominant as I tried to even them out. But you guys know how the sim engine works. If one preset is slightly better/worse, that's fine. I just don't want one of them being totally dominant.
----------------------------------------------------------- Preset 1 Style - Slugger Six strengths: Hitting Power, Chin vs Knockdown, Recovery, Chin vs Knockout, Endurance, Absorb Punishment Four Weaknesses: Defense, Resistance to Cuts, Clinching, Ring Movement Punches: +2 3 point punches ----------------------------------------------------------- Preset 2 Style - Slugger Six strengths: Hitting Power, Fast Starter, Killer Instinct, Aggressiveness, Resistance to Cuts, Chin vs Knockout Four Weaknesses: Fouls, Intellect, Fight on Ropes, Counter-Punching Punches: +2 3 point punches ------------------------------------------------------------ Preset 3 Style - Boxer Six strengths: Control Factor vs Sluggers, Endurance, Punching Accuracy, Counter Punching, Clinching, Ring Movement Three Weaknesses: Hitting Power, Fast Starter, Chin vs Knockdown Punches: Gets no 3 point punches in favor of one less weakness ------------------------------------------------------------ Preset 4 Style - Boxer Six strengths: Control Factor vs Boxer, Control Factor vs Slugger, Punching Accuracy, Clinching, Ring Movement, Killer Instinct Three Weaknesses: Hitting Power, Resistance to Cuts, Chin vs Knockout Punches: Gets no 3 point punches in favor of one less weakness ------------------------------------------------------------ |
