Not possible to get rid of player nicknames?
Is it not possible to get rid of player nicknames? I deleted the contents of the nick_names.txt file (leaving the file in tact) before starting a test fictional league, but I'm still seeing the names. I also noticed that there are nicknames prevalent in the names.dat file in the test save games' folder. What's the point of the nick_names.txt file if it isn't being used?

Don't tell me this has something to do with using a template.

Did you create the template before clearing out the nick_names.txt file? Templates (unfortunately) keep the data loaded when first creating them.
I believe the "names.dat" file in the league folder contains first, last and nick names. Like the world.dat file includes nations and cities. |

Phew. Turns out I was using an old test template. My grand template that I spent hours on doesn't have nicknames in it. I wonder what would happen if you switched names.dat files around anyways.
