Is it possible to have 4 teams qualify for the playoffs in an 8-team league

I read the manual...the long one...360 pages...and I did a search.

Here what I would like to do:

I would like a 4-team playoff in an 8-team league...like the old Shaunnessy playoffs in the minors in the 30s, 40s and 50s.

The top four teams would be in the playoffs...#1 team would play #4 and #2 would play #3 team in the standings.

I don't think the game will let you do this.

It looks like all you can have is the division winners...plus wildcards (if the number of divisions are not equal to the power of two).

Can someone confirm this?

you are correct...one wildcard per division at the most right now.

But editable playoffs would be awesome, if implemented at a later date.

I strongly campaigned for the Shaughnessy playoff format to make it into the release. I even offered up appropriate historical data to prove its importance.

Sadly though, it turns out that adding it in was actually a complicated programming exercise for Markus so it was left by the wayside for the time being.

Hopefully it can be added in a future patch; if not, I will repost my thread about a customization playoff system for OOTP2007 at the appropriate time.
