Thirteen Colonies Baseball Association

In the year 2010, Major League Baseball has been indefinitely shut down due to the performance-enhancing drug problem, and the East coast is in dire need of another professional baseball circuit to hold their interest. A number of former MLB owners and various other people of power have gotten together to establish a replacement league for the East Coast. Instead of a standard national or regional league, this baseball association is set up very differently. Each state invited to participate in the association has a 10-team league, and at the end of the season the top teams from each league will participate in a tournament to determine the association champion.

The executives of this new baseball association decided that, in a nod to our nation's history, they would invite the 13 states that originally existed in 1776 to participate. All thirteen agreed to host leagues, and the Thirteen Colonies Baseball Association was born.

Each state league will play a 120-game season. At the end of each season, the champions from each league, along with the 3 non-champion teams with the most wins, will participate in a 16-team tournament. The first two rounds of the tournament will consist of a 3-game series, with the semifinals and finals being 5 games.

I will do a league-by-league introduction soon, with the names of the ten teams in each league and expert picks for the league awards.

I'm thinking of doing a similar thing - how are you setting up the universe?

I'm just setting up 13 independent major leagues, and then scheduling the tournament myself (exhibition games) at the end of the season. So, I won't get any HTML reports of the tournament results, but other than that it's not a problem.

I just used the modified nations.txt in the mods forum that has states added in. I downloaded the state flag pack, and finally, I modified the cities.txt myself so that all American cities are set to their correct state. This way it's possible to make a league where all teams are located in the same state and all players hail from that state too. If you want my cities.txt file, let me know and I'll upload it.

An update on the universe:

I've finished naming and finding logos for 60 of the 130 teams. I hope to be completely done with all of that and able to get this thing started by Monday.

All team names are logos are done, thanks to cephasjames' fantastic logo site. I will input all the teams between tonight and tomorrow, and I'll start the league introductions on Monday.
