renaming players

i have found several utilities for renaming players. they all use a *.dat database file located in the 'data' folder. unfortunately, this appears to be an older version thing, as OOTP2006 has much more stuff in that folder.
will this type of thing work in the new version in some way? or does anybody know of a newer version of these utilities? this is where i found them:

and for pete's sakes, PLEASE have some creativity in your leagues. the world doesn't need another 'ted jones'. it needs players like 'spandex schmidt' and 'butros-butros grismore'.

I seem to have an inordinate number of asian players. It seems as though 20%-30% of my players are asian and I haven't changed any settings.

Maybe I'll go with Mai Butros-Butros...

good news.

there is a posted guide for customization above that shows how you can change the name databases in OOTP2006. it is GREAT, by the way.

butros-butros grismore was a catcher in an old league of mine. a stinky backup catcher. i think he was in the shovel corio draft...

Just where is Malleus Dei when you need him? He'd love this thread to pieces.

These are excellent. Is the "nasty names" somewhere for the taking?

yes, the 'nasty names' is yours for the taking. i am converting to use for OOTP2006 this coming week.
drop me an e-mail at yajeflow@earthlink.net and i will send it along. basically, for a few years, everything that popped into anyone's head just went into the database. you forget what was in there until you see 'CAPSLOCK jones' show up. it helps a lot with the 'personalities' of players. i can tell a story on probably about 60% of these guys. as you can tell, we were hungry a few times in there! also, someone was watching late-night TV (Taibo Maerz and Bowflex Wanner).

Thanks - I sent you an e-mail but I'm not sure if it cleared the spam gauntlet. If you could send to me at mushroom3170@yahoo.com that would be great.

Thanks.

Hi-larious names! Couscous Corathers and Wrong Hole Bloodworth get my vote. Almost up there with my favorite:

Mr. Buttons Prettyman

This thread features the immortal Buttons and many others from OOTPB's gone by:
