Why does my owner not approve this deal?

You have offered Homer Smoot $3,363 for 1 year. You have $22,560 remaining for player contracts. Your owner does NOT approve this deal.

What's wrong? He's not approving any deals.

Does he reject any deal for the player? Lower salary for 1 year, multiyear, etc?

Only approves of a minor league contract. Is it because these players are over 30 and he doesn't want to have anyone over 30 on his team?

He might be thinking about sacking you.

You've reached the limit on oddly-named players, Napoli.

I've already been sacked 20 times in this historical league, so that would be nothing new.

If the game has borrowed from FM, a team may stop you spending money when it starts thinking about sacking you.

Well I took over another team, and then went back to my team so I had a fresh start, but still nothing.

Yes. The 'organisation' has a level of confidence in you, that means you get the sack if it drops below a certain level for a certain length of time. Below a certain level of confidence, an organisation may also be less approving of you spending it's money.

Maybe the owner doesn't consider the player worthy of an actual salary.

Should it still do this after I did what I told you a post up? Also is there a way to check this level?

I don't know - I don't really know whether this happens in OOTP, or to what degree. No way to check it, that I know.

I guess I don't need to sign anyone this year.

Not trying to be smart but maybe the only way for him to gain some confidence in you is for you to start winning?

Markus knows. The rest of us can offer suggestions, or you can play the game more and try and work it out for yourself.

I guess the confidence thing is real in this game. I didn't know that. We'll see how winning works.

LOL Have you forgotten to try that? Winning that is?

I don't know about this situation, but have seen that they won't approve a multi year deal that has the salaries too far out of whack, like 10 million for this year and 500 grand for next.

I'm having this same issue, I want to try signing Cy Young for 12k/year but the owner is only approving a contract offer for about 5k maximum, with 67k free for player contracts... Don't know why/if the owner doesn't like me, but I have won two world series in a row and lost in the WS the year before i won my first... so 3 straight ws appearances.
