Amteur draft not producing enough players

I have been running a 1961 and beyond league and the first draft went okay. I ahve the league set up for 25 rounds, but after the first year the draft only lasts 6 or 7 rounds as the draft pool empties after that. As a result I am getting occasional roster errors due to not enough pitchers, etc. Anybody know the scoop?

Play the game in windows, keep the 350 pg. game guide open as well. It will be easier to learn the game that way.

Are you importing players from the Lahman DB?

Yes,

does that mean it is only creating rookies who appeared in the majors at one point and not rookies who never made it?

Doesn't Lahman import rookies who made their debut in the year being imported?

I don't do much historical simming but I believe those who do usually turn the minors off.

I think if you run a historical league that imports rookies from the Lahman DB then you will quickly run out of players if the league has full affiliated minor leagues attached, since Lahman only has MLB players, not the 1000's of historical minor leagues who never made it to the show. You could increase the number of draft rounds for your MLB league, though I'm not sure if that still creates fictional players when you import the Lahman rookies. It seems to me that checking "invisible/phantom" players on league setup would also solve this issue.

A final idea might be to add a small, fictional, unaffiliated league (lowest quality baseball) with a 40 round draft. This would create 100's of additional low level free agents each year the MLB teams would sign to fill up it's minor leagues.

OOTP is not creating any rookies, it's only importing the rookies for that particular year for the teams that were actually in MLB at that time.

You will get no players generated for your minors or any extras to fill out a 25 round draft.
