Severe Memory Leak?
I think I was able to pinpoint my in-game slowdown issues to what appears to be a memory leak. My system: AMD Athlon 2800XP, 1gig of ram, ATI Radeon x700. Enough hard drive space, recently defragged.
In any case, this doesn't happen every time I play the game. I'd say a third of the time. I don't think it's a systemwide problem, as OOTP is the only thing I've had difficulty with. It's a possibility, though, so I'll mess around with a few things later just to double check. In any case, at certain screens in OOTP, my cpu usage spikes to 100%, visibly slowing down my cursor and pretty much everything else. Noticably, it occurs during any screen in which I can view the roster (excluding SION pages). It's most noticable on mousing over names. During games, it makes my PbP crawl along. Apologies if it's the improper term for this type of problem, but regardless I'm getting some heavy slow down at certain screens. Images: here and here. |

I am pretty sure that they are looking in to this. This is page 3 from a previous thread.
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...=119990&page=3 It looks like anytime there is a scrollbar in one of the screens, cpu usage spikes up to 100%...when there is no scrollbar, 0% usage. |

This is definitely an issue that Markus and crew have been working on, and should be resolved in the next patch. For now, I'm going to set this one to "Claim Fixed."
Thanks very much! Steve |
