Play-by-Play Slowdown Issues

My current rig: AMD Athlon 2800XP, 1 gig of ram, ATI Radeon 700x. Enough hard drive space. Recently defragged.

My in-game PbP is varying wildly. I like to have it at the fastest setting, but randomly slows down in some games. I have closed every program or process I can, and have disabled the ticker. Bottom line is that my machine is more than capable of running this and the play-by-play repeatedly slows down at seemingly random points. It has occured pre and post patch, and with any league setting I've used. I've seen a couple of other posts around these parts regarding problems with slow PbP as well, I'm just trying to convince ya'll it's a problem/bug and not merely a fault of my machine. It's pretty frustrating.

Is this a known problem?

Edit II: Nevermind. Occurs during preset and custom speeds.

MidKnight,

Apologies for the horribly late response to your thread.

Are you saying that the speed varies? Slows down, speeds up, and so forth? Or that it starts ok, then slows down and never speeds up again?

I logged this as TT #1978, but I'm still looking for more info on this...

Not a problem, it's easy to miss things on the forum. The PbP speed does vary. Sometimes the speed runs as it should (i.e., whatever the delay is set to), but usually it lags significantly, even if few processes are running.

I'm trying to figure a way to better document or explain it, since admittingly it's a bit vague. I set the custom delay to 50 milliseconds, but it vary rarely will run that fast, more often around (estimating) 200-300. The "Very Fast' setting will run slower than it should as well, for example. It might be due to the other slowdown/memory issues.

I am also having problems with the play by play speed. It seems that no matter what I change the settings to I am unable to speed up the play by play. I am running the game on my Gateway laptop. It has a 2.4 GHz Celeron (R) CPU with 512 mb or RAM and a 40GB hard drive.
