I can only say that the best I've ever seen in action is, unfortunately, Diego Maradona. I say 'unfortunately', because I hate the little bastard, he's a major league *******.

Diego Maradona by a mile, Pele is hyped up more than any player in history he says he scored well over a thousand goals in his career thing he doesn't mention is that he counts EVERY goal and I mean EVERY goal that means he counts goals he scored as a kid, in training and friendlies.

Been lucky enough to watch Maradona and speak to a few ex pros from around Pele's time specially a few ex Man Utd players, and from what I've seen and heard from players who have seen and played against Pele he Isn't even the second best player, the list would be.

Diego Maradona
George Best
Pele

Maradona says he doesn't know if he was better than Pele, but that Alfredo Di Stefano was better than either of them.

I think Maradona dominated the game and could influence the result of a game he was playing in more than any other player of his time and perhaps of all time.

Even though I can't stand the short little cocaine snuffing, overweight argentinian I think his genius must be appreciated.

Hand of God my @$#%&!!

The second goal he scored in that match against England was one of the most singularly brilliant solo efforts I have ever seen on a football field.

Still hate him though

If your on about defenders then Bobby Moore, no need to even mention anybody else so good was he in 1970 they trumped up charges that he had stolen something to try and get him banned from the 70 World Cup.

Without Pele Brazil would have still won World Cups but without Maradona in 86 Argantina would never have won it, if not for the drugs we wouldn't even be having this discussion and Maradonas fav drug wasn't even performance related in fact probably slowed him down.
