I'm Confused :hello!!:

Call me old or stupid, but I just don't get this... All the old games, you downloaded the roster set and a face pack, dragged it into the season folder and you were set... now nothing I download seems to work right... my leagues transfer without minors.... and I most definatly can't play with these fake names...

I've had every single OOTP version and loved them all but this one is frustrating me to no end... Will someone please spear me the links and the 40 page manuals and please tell me what to download, where to put it, and what to do to get the real names into the game and start playing already...

Sticky thread number 1 in this forum is dedicated to a roster set created by CubbyFan and Rolen. Look at any mesage written by CubbyFan. Go to the link in his signature, and download the roster file indicated. Unzip the file to your C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games folder. Open OOTP. Choose the saved game called CubbyRolenBeta 06. Enjoy.

Why? Isn't that how you navigate the web?

Help me, help you

In all seriousness, this game is very much more complex then previous versions. I highly recommend downloading the manual for times of reference. The table of contents (which is clickable) is very helpful.

By the way, the game guide is close to 300 pages.

just put the .lg folder into Program Files -> Sports Interactive -> OOTP BB 06 -> data -> Saved Files/Games

folder names are approx as they're off the top of my head, but really, it's no different than it used to be, just a few extra folders to get through.

Yea i'm starting to think it's too complex... I can't figure out how to get the pictures to work or even how to pick my own team... honestly i think im just going to download the latest ootp6 roster set, a new face pack, fix up the rosters, and just play that after the trading deadline passes. thanks for the help but I really don't have the time or energy to read a 300 page manual or read an 80 page thread just so I can play a game :/

Why is reading the whole manual an issue? Can't figure out how to "pick your own team," search the manual for that question. Can't figure out how to "get pictures to work," search for that specific question (in the customization guide, most likely).

Admittedly, there is a ton of info to get into, but don't let yourself be overwhelmed. Just start going and figure things out as they come along.

I wish you luck, it'll be worth figuring out

It's really not that hard to understand things. What I have done is downloaded the manual onto my computer. When I get stuck I open it up. Hit F3, for a search, type in what you are looking for and it will go to each of the subjects that have that word. If I think it is too common I just look at the index and go to the page I see what I am looking for.

There are a lot of things that are new but the learning curve is quite quick if you just horse around on the interface.

I think something that many don't do is when you open a roster file like CUBBY/ROLEN you need to add a new manager. Make that manager the commish. Then go to select manager and select the name you made. Then go back to add manager and delete the one CUBBY/ROLEN had in.

You can decide when you first make your GM whether you want to manage a team r not. But for my universe I created I made two commish managers. One for a MLB team I am running and one for a independant league team I want to run. The main thing is you have to remember to select the manager you need for each team.

As for images all images go into the file:
C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games folder\YOURLEAGUEFILENAME\news\html\images
The images must not be in folders inside the html folder, just all in there.

You can also put logos so that when you start any universe some will pop in there if you place them in:
C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\logos

Its a lot of trial and error, but I learned basically on my own. You can do it too, its not that hard. Its not algebra more of gym class.
