Potentially stupid question

Before deciding to buy OOTP2006, I downloaded the free version of OOTP5 to get an idea of the game play. Needless to say, loved it - so now am a proud owner of OOTP2006. However, I've finally moved through January and February and have a couple of things I can't figure out:-
1. Is it possible to manage Spring Training games - haven't been able to find this option on any of the screens. No big deal if I can't, but was just surprised to see my guys playing without me!!!
2. To get an in-game quick-fix I simmed up to opening day. When playing my first game, it seems that if I want to actually manage, I have to manage each pitch (i.e. decide whether to Swing, Bunt etc for every pitch). In OOTP5, I seem to remember that you seleved "Swing Away" for example, and it applied to the whole AB. You then would see just the final pitch of the AB (i.e. count would move to 3-1, and you would see the PBP report of the fifth pitch). Is this option still available in this version, or do I now have to control each and every pitch. Just seems like that could take a long while!

Thanks. Loving it so far though...

To answer part 2, there's a button on the lower left of the game screen that allows you to sim the entire at bat at once. That's kind of like letting the batter swing away like in version 5. If you want more detailed control then you use the other commands.

As for part 1, I'm taking one of my leagues and quick simming to Spring Training to check. Gimme a few minutes.

as for managing spring training, you need to go to the league schedule screen and select manage on your teams game. It took me a few games to get to that.

Thanks both. I'll give it a shot - sounds like you manage a Spring Training game the same way as a regular league game. Feel like a bit of a loser now because I'd figured that out for the regular season!

Right - back to Tampa Bay...
