A bit of an off-the-wall suggestion

I know this would never be implemented but it's what i've always dreamed of... if OOTP could be integrated with a game like MVP baseball. I always hated the managing side of those games, but I like to actually play my games it. It'd be great to be able to handle the GM issues in a proper sim and then just play the games in a baseball game...

Makes me wonder if it would be possible (with enough time and effort) to create a program that would allow you to do this... start a league in OOTP, run the program on the files and transfer all the necessary info over to the game, play a game, then transfer the files back to OOTP, etc... of course it would require you to update every time you played either game, but still... hmm

Just a random suggestion. Thoughts? Anyone else ever wish for this?

I doubt this would ever happen as OOTP is a text based sim and MVP isn't. Some other company might do this, but I can't see OOTP doing it.

I have no desire to use a joystick and hit the balls myself, but my 'dream' game is when OOTP goes 3-d and there are no visible ratings for any players, but everything I want to know can be learned from observation....

And I can bring a player into my office and have a conversation with him...

A big thing missing from baseball sims is that these guys are human beings. In real life, you like or dislike guys based on their personality alone, many times. And often a player will get a job, because the manager/gm likes a guy, even though he might not be the absolute best player...

I know we often get attached to our favorite fictional players, even though they are just a collection of numbers. Imagine if you could really KNOW the guy, how much more attached you'd become....

That's a great idea, a small thing that is really missing. Like in Head Coach, talk to players, motivate them and stuff like that.

I really wouldn't call that a 'small' thing.....it would be a massive undertaking to give each player a unique personality and intelligence enough to converse....

Indeed.
Given the level of hysteria over things like putting rain delays back into the game, or stars, heaven forbid, perhaps it's best not to give folks something else to screech about.

Edit: It would be cool, though.

Oh don't worry, folks on this board will ALWAYS find something to screech about.
