The Western Baseball Universe is a 9 league 112 team universe that will use the soon to be released OOTP 2006.
Click here for the player sign up thread! http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...=1#post1683814 Most of the action will take place in the OT section of the forum. But everyone here is more than welcome to come read about the dynasty and sign up a player to follow. If you have ever wished to have the life or a pro baseball player, then this is your dynasty. In the next few posts I will detail the leagues and their teams. The league will begin in 1970 and I will sim 5 years in for testing and tweaking. 1975 will see the universe begin in detail. It will use modern baseball totals that are toned down a few % Each league will have its own league totals as well Look for a sign up thread in the OT section soon! As I said earlier this is a 9 league 112 team dynasty. The largest baseball dysnasty attempted in OT. This post will detail the leagues in the universe and give you an idea of what sort of universe it will be.
Western Baseball Association 16 teams split into two leagues and four divisions. Top 2 teams from each division advance to the playoffs. This is the premiere league in the WBU. The WBA consists of the top teams from the largest and most important cities from the Mississippi to the Pacific Ocean. The players are the best and the saleries are the highest. Quite simply is the best baseball played outside of the top Eastern leagues. If your player is going to be a true legend, then this is where they will hope to end up. League eqivelency will be 1.00 WBA Reserves 16 teams split into two leagues and four divisions. Top 2 teams from each division advance to playoffs. While it does serve under the WBA, this is not a true farm league. It acts much as its name suggests, as a reserve league for the big show itself. This is a place for players who are just a step away from the top leagues and as a place for talented youngsters who need to sharpen their skills. This league in recent years has attracted larger and larger crowds as the quality of play improves. League eqivelency will be .85 WBA Junior League 16 teams split into two leagues. Top 2 teams in each league advance into the playoffs True farm system of the WBA. It is here that the draft picks of the WBA teams send their players to start their careers as professional baseball players. Baseball is of high quality and here the megastars of the WBA begin the ascent to the level of heroes and gods. League eqivelency will be .60 Frontier Baseball League 12 teams split into two leagues. Top two teams from each league advance to playoffs. This league started out as a rough and tumble semi-pro league and has evolved into a fledgling pro league. Centered in the North Central US and Western Canada this league is still a league of ruffians and firebrands but the quality of play is high and some of the biggest stars move on to more prestigious leagues. The financial situation is shaky since the towns are small, but things have improved in recent years and this league is holding fast. League eqivelency will be .65 New Mexico/Arizona Fall League 8 teams in single league No playoffs, team with best winning % declared champion. Short season fall/winter instructional league centered in the sun washed deserts of NM and AZ. Teams send there best youngsters here to polish their skills to take back to the big clubs. Play is loose and very competive as young stars try and prove themselves on the diamond. League eqivelency will be .55 Texas League 12 Teams split into two leagues. Top team from each league advances to playoffs. A league of big hitters and tortured pitchers. This is a pure hitters league. The crowds are big and rowdy and the ball flies a long ways in the dry, warm Texas air. A realtivly new league but quickly rising in status. Centered in medium and small Texas towns this league always draws big crowds packed into stadiums that are quickly expanding. League eqivelency will be .70 Pacific Coast Organization 12 teams in one league and split into three divisions, division winners and wild card team advance to the playoffs. The formerly named California league (changed its name after adding a team each in Oregon and Washington) is the oldest league in the WBU. It is quite often called the second major league and for good reason. The play here is just a hair below what you would find in the WBA. Frequent media and player raiding wars exist between the two leagues. The bad blood between the two leagues has subsided in recent years after the WBA president floated a large low interest loan to the PCO to bail it out of financial trouble. This is a pitcher friendly league with low ERAs and high strikeout totals, but there are plenty of superstars at the plate as well. If you do not play in the WBA, then this is the next best thing. League eqivelency will be .93 PCO Reserves 12 teams in one league and split into three divisions, division winners and a wild card team advance to the playoffs. A reserve league of the PCO. Acts much in the same way as the WBA reserve league. It was created a few years after seeing the massive succes of the WBA reserve league. It also acts as the only farm league of the PCO after the PCO lost a court case declaring 'slave leagues' in violation of trade law. League eqivelency will be .75 Rocky Mountain League 8 teams split into two leagues, league winners The newest league in the WBU. Formed after the famous court battle against the PCO. Now free to govern itself the teams of the RML have developed a quality but rough style of play. Crowds are adequte though and league officials are confident the league will make it as an independent league. League eqivelency will be .60 There you have it. All nine leagues of the WBU. this is the top flight league of the WBU. Everyone hopes to play here one day. Just to swing the bat or throw the pitch is your announcement to the world that you are a great player. The biggest crowds and the best money. Those who stick here and suceed will be covered in glory.
The league is 16 teams divided into two league. Each league shall have two divisions of four teams apiece. The Western Division has two divisions which are... Pacific Division 1. Seattle Royalty A recent break away from the PCO. This is the newest team in the WBA. Recently purchased by a multi billionare this team was renamed the royalty and looks to make an impact in the toughest division of all of western baseball. 2. San Francisco Baseball Club The oldest team in western baseball and third oldest team in baseball. This club from the begining went through so many nicknames that they finally settled on calling themselves the San Francisco Club of Professional Baseball Men. That has been mercifully shortened to San Francisco Baseball Club or San Francisco BC for short. This team has the honour of having no nickname and won a court battle to have the sole right to do so. Arch enemy of the Los Angeles club who have in recent years bested the San Francisco BC in division battles. 3. Los Angeles Reign The most arrogant, pompous and egotistical group of athletes on the planet. But also probably the second best baseball club in America after the New York United club back east. Has the best winning % of any western team over the past 25 years and with a brand new stadium destined to bring in massive revenue it looks as though the team will dominate for years to come. 4. San Diego Sharks Used to playing third (or even fourth fiddle) to the rest of the division the San Diego club is looking to break out and compete for the division crown. A growing interest in baseball and a rising income level among the population is helping. But can they compete against the best division in baseball? Intercontinental League 1. Denver Miners Always styled themselves as a straight laced, rough and ready group of ball players. The mountain air breeds exceptional athletes and the ball flies fast and far in the thin air. League officials have recently allowed for special baseballs to be used at Denver home games and new park changes have the team hoping that the extreme hitters effects are a thing of the past. But still expect monster homeruns and a men at work approach to this club. 2. Las Vegas Family The wildest team in all of baseball. This team likes to play fast and loose and stories on in clubhouse gambling prompted an investigation into alleged game throwing. The shady group of board members behind the team put a quick end to that. A new female owner has brought her own brand of justice to the team however and discipline has improved and the team is back on the winning track. But rumours of wild parties and massive alcohol bills still abound. 3. Phoenix Desert Foxes A middle of the road team from the Arizona desert. A revamped front office has Arizona buzzing with hopes of moving up into the top tier of the WBA. Now if they can only do something about the worst stadium in the WBA... 4. Albuquerque Road Runners One of the smallest cities to host a WBA team. What the team lacks in finances it makes up for in its rabid fan base and player loyalty. The superb coaching staff and genius GM have this team always playing over its heads. The Eastern Division has two divisions which are... Great Plains League 1. Minneapolis Knights The Knights have had less success than they should have over the course of the leagues history. Plauged by a indifferent fan base and poor ownership this team has also been cursed with some of the worst luck of any WBA team. It looks to a young superstar to lead it to glory and reverse all that has gone wrong. Will one ever come riding into town? 2. Omaha Cyclones Another small market team. But unlike Albuquerque this team is not blessed with a good GM. In fact there are rumours in the front office that the current GM is a few sticks short of a bat rack. But recent changes in ownership hope to turn around the fortunes of the worst team historicaly in the WBA. 3. Dallas Rustlers One of the two Texas powerhouses. This team along with its rival in Houston rose out of the Texas league to become a WBA force. Had just a hairs worth of more success than its instate rival, this team looks to rise to the top of the WBA in the Texas fashion. By doing it big. 4. Houston Steers Other Texas powerhouse. This Houston club is a little bit newer than its Dallas counterpart but has lost no time in garnering much success. With clear dominance over the rest of the division can the state of Texas be stopped? Mississippi League 1. Milwaukee Union The Eastern version of the Denver club. Hardworking team who prides itself on team unity. Has had moderate success but never playoff success. Looking to get over that last hump and make itself a dynasty. 2. Chicago Storm Second team of Chicago after the Chicago Lakemen. While no where near the team as its in city rivals they are still a force in the WBA third in championships after LA and San Francisco. Also have a new stadium deal in the works. In only those damned Lakemen will stop interferring... 3. St. Louis River Rats Got its name after the turn of the century riverworkers who would pay a nickel to stand along the outfield and act as a human wall marking homeruns and interferring with the opposing sides outfielders. Still consideres itself a team of the people and once of the most popular teams due to its risky style of play and exceptional speed and defense. Can this translate into success? 4. New Orleans Pelicans Lower level WBA team looking to increase its popularity in the bayou and then make a mark on the WBU. A recently built stadium will help along witht the arrival of a young GM who promises a fresh new look for the teams roster moves. There you have them. Your 16 Western Baseball Association teams. Have a favourite yet? |

The WBA reserves are the top 'minor league' system of the WBA. This minor league however, boasts the third best quality of baseball in the WBU and these teams are every bit as good as any professional Eastern League team. Many star players have spent all or most of there careers in the WBAR. The reserves function as a place for youngsters to hone their skills against top players and for aging veterens to hang around in case of injury or a star player jumps leagues. But everyone here has one goal in mind, to make it to the grand stage of the WBA.
The league structure is a mirror image of the WBA. Here are the 16 teams comprising the WBAR. The Western League teams are... Pacific Division 1. Tacoma Lumberjacks This is the reserve team of the Seattle Royalty 2. Oakland Seals This is the reserve team of the Sanfancisco Baseball Club 3. Long Beach Waves This is the reserve team of the Los Angeles Reign 4. Oceanside Hammerheads This is the reserve team of the San Diego Sharks Intercontinental League 1. Colorado Springs Mountaineers Reserve team of the Denver Miners 2. Reno Aces Reserve team of the Las Vegas Family 3. Tucson Bandits Reserve team of the Phoenix Desert Foxes 4. Sante Fe Coyotes Reserve team of the Albuquerque Roadrunners The teams of the Eastern League are... Great Plains League 1. St Paul. Steeds Reserve team of the Minneapolis Knights 2. Lincoln Prairie Riders Reserve team of the Omaha Cyclones 3. Fort Worth Lawmen Reserve team of the Dallas Rustlers 4. Corpus Christi Oilers Reserve team of the Houston Steers Mississippi League 1. Madison Rangers Reserve team of the Milwaukee Union 2. Des Moines Hawks Reserve team of the Chicago Storm 3. Kansas City Butchers Reserve team of the St. Louis River Rats 4. Baten Rouge Gators Reserve team of the New Orleans Pelicans |

The WBA Junior league is the true minor league of the WBA. Primarily composed of young players and aging stars who help train the youth players or are just wanting to hang on to a piece of WBA glory.
Crowds are smaller but dedicated, they all have one thing that brings them to the ballpark. A chance to see the heroes of tomorrow evolving right before their eyes. The WBA Junior League is split into two leagues. Western League and Eastern League. The teams of the Western League are... Western League 1. Astoria Princes Farm club of the Seattle Royalty 2. Stockton Conductors Farm club of the San Francisco Baseball Club 3. Malibu Stars Farm club of the Los Angeles Reign 4. Laguna Beach Great Whites Farm club of the San Diego Sharks 5. Fort Collins Goldens Farm club of the Denver Miners 6. Henderson Made Men Farm club of the Las Vegas Family 7. Flagstaff Meteors Farm club of the Phoenix Desert Foxes 8. Las Cruces Ocelots Farm club of the Albuquerque Roadrunners The teams of the Eastern League are... Eastern League 1. Sioux Falls Warriors Farm club of the Minneapolis Knights 2. Wichita Cowboys Farm Club of the Omaha Cyclones 3. Plano Bottlers Farm club of the Dallas Rustlers 4. Beamont Serpents Farm club of the Houston Steers 5. Cedar Rapids Varmints Farm Club of the Milwaukee Union 6. Davenport Storm Riders Farm club of the Chicago Storm 7. Tulsa Drillers Farm Club of the St. Louis River Rats 8. Shreveport Crawfish Farm club of the New Orleans Pelicans Last edited by rudel.dietrich; 05-17-2006 at 10:45 AM. |

The Frontier league is a two league twelve team independent league based in the north central part of the United State and Canada. It had its roots as a low level semi pro team around the turn of the century and has slowy grown to become its own professional idenpendent league. The games and players are a bit rough, but dedicated and league officials are striving to cut rough play and corruption out of the league and make the league into a premiere pro league.
The teams of the Northern League are... Northern League 1. Thunder Bay Barnacles The pride of Western Ontario. This new inclusion to the FL is looking to make a big splash in the upcoming seasons. 2. Saskatoon Muskets The downtrodden of the North division, the Muskets are looking for a youth movement and a new front office to get them out of the basement. 3. Winnipeg Kodiaks Middle of the road team in the North Division, an aging front office and coaching staff has the teams supporters fearing for the future, 4. Edmonton Mustangs Arch rival of the Kodiaks, made all the worse by having a winning history. The conservative front office prefers experience over all else. Can this keep up with the new wave of youth hitting the WBU? 5. Calgary Rockets Kings of the frontier league with the best winning % and most championships to date. Look to mantain their strong posistion for the forseeable future with the addition of a fully domed massive stadium in downtown Calgary. 6. Surrey Legion Was almost considered to be a PCO reserve team at one point. But the Vancouver club decided to look south so instead Surrey posisitioned for a spot in the FL. One of the newer leagues in the FL. The Southern league teams are... Southern League 1. Bismarck Blood&Iron Perhaps the most hardcore fans in the all of the FL. This team has been in more brawls and had more suspensions than possibly any team in the FL. New measures are curbing the roughneck play but this team will never lose its edge. 2. Fargo Hardballers New addition to the FL. Trying to get out from under the shadow from the WBA junior club in nearby Sioux Falls. 3. Billings Stampede Rivals of the instate Smoke Jumpers, nearly indentical records between the two always lead to interesting series. 4. Missoula Smoke Jumpers Newly completed stadium which many crritcs are calling the best facility in the FL are giving Missuola hope for the leg up on Northern League opponents. 5. Cheyenne Cannons Whipping boys of the Northern league for many decades, the recent financial troubles of the team have not improved the outlook. There are whispers that they could soon be placed with another 6. Casper Ghosts Recent miracle seasons in the FL have many wondering if their boy genius GM is for real. There you have your Frontier league teams. |

How are you doing the player sign-ups for this one?
Do you just pick a league and make a person? I'm really looking forward to this one, and I'll definately be making a player for it! |

I am a beta tester but was only selected to be one today. I do not have the beta game yet. I am going to try and get this league included in the retail version of the game. That way everyone can get a taste of fictional league right off the bat. I missed the spelling error But creed would have misspelled every word in the sentance |
